Managing daily pain while teaching yoga over the years has taught me..

✨tapping into the parasympathetic nervous system encourages healing through rest

✨focusing on my breath helps to manage pain flares

✨gentle mindful movement helps to strengthen the muscles that support my compromised joints.

✨tuning into how I’m feeling helps me to pace and prioritise my activities so I don’t over do it so often

But mostly..
✨we are enough, we are not defined by our limitations.

✨every moment is an opportunity to live our best life.

✨not to let fear or self doubt hold you back from doing what you love.

🙏🏽❤️

Grateful for all the support we gain from our weekly classes and so thankful for your understanding while I take a break from teaching throughout December to focus on my health and healing 🙏🏽❤️

Chair yoga is a wonderful way to explore the benefits of yoga in safe and gentle way. Especially if getting up and down from the ground is difficult. The aid of the chair allows for us to access poses and sequencing that may be otherwise inaccessible.

Yoga can’t be seen from the outside, it’s an inner experience. As the saying goes ‘we don’t use the body to get into the poses… we use the poses to get into our bodies’ 💫

Why practice a slow yoga practice like restorative yoga.?

The aim of restorative yoga is to tap into the body’s natural ability to self-regulate and aid homeostasis, the body’s way of bringing balance to all the processes happening inside us.

This weekend has been especially tough for me, with my leg muscles going into continuous spasms. At times, I couldn’t walk without crying out in pain. Usually this kind of pain settles with lots of rest but when it didn’t, I started to question whether I would be able to get in to teach today.

I rested, meditated, moved very mindfully and rested some more. I realised that my confidence had taken a blow and so I gently encouraged myself to keep trying to walk and move within my limits.

Thankfully I felt able to show up and at least see what happens.. due mainly to the understanding of the class! 💛
And I am so pleased I did!..
I feel very blessed for all the amazing things my body could do today 🙏🏽 And I’m thankful that despite the objections from my confidence, I showed up to witness it 🥰
