SUSSEX BOY WINS WIMBLEDON: About *Julian Cash*, the new Wimbledon Gentlemen’s Doubles champion with partner Lloyd Glasspool.
Julian, 28, is from Burgess Hill.
He is a mad keen Brighton & Hove Albion fan.
Cash & Glasspool won the final 6-2, 7-6 with one double fault and just four unforced errors across two sets.
They are the first all-British pair to win the men's doubles title at Wimbledon for 89 years.
In the quarters, at 5-6 0-40 on his serve, in the deciding third set, Julian saved three match points vs Patten & Heliovaara.
Cash & Glasspool have now won Queens, Eastbourne and Wimbledon in succession. Neither player had previously gone beyond the quarters of a major.
Julian came through all the Tennis Sussex county development groups, although he skipped a couple of age groups because he was playing Open mens competitions at 13. He still helps coach the county juniors in doubles technique.
Julian’s mother Alison volunteers for Tennis Sussex and is a regular match referee at St Ann’s Tennis, BN3 🙂
