There is something incredibly special about learning from teachers who were personally trained and certified by Romana Krysanowska. These are second-generation teachers, the people who didn’t just learn the exercises, but were taught by someone who worked side by side with Joseph Pilates. These teachers are an incredibly valuable and as a team we strive to gain as much knowledge from them as we can. Its the kind of knowledge and depth of learning you cannot get just from a manual. It’s passed from teacher to teacher through years of observation, correction, experience, and mentorship.
The more we as a team study with those who are deeply connected to the lineage of Joseph Pilates, the more we realise how much there is to learn.
It’s also why we continue to invest in our own education. Learning from those who carry this work forward helps us become a better teacher for every person who walks into Brighton Pilates.
The word “Pilates” is used everywhere today, but not everything carrying the name follows the original method. Understanding where your teacher learned, who they learned from, and how that knowledge has been passed down gives valuable context to the work you’re experiencing. Lineage isn’t about exclusivity, it’s about preserving the integrity of a method that has transformed bodies for generations, not the trend that we see today.
I personally feel incredibly grateful to keep learning from those who are helping ensure Joseph Pilates’ work continues to be taught with the depth, precision and respect it deserves. And also incredible grateful to our incredible team who share my love and passion for this work too. 🤍

We have noticed more young athletes adding Pilates to their training routine, and here’s why🤸♀️✨
Pilates isn’t just for adults. More young athletes are incorporating it into their training — from dancers and gymnasts to runners, swimmers and team sports.
Because better movement leads to better performance.
Pilates helps strengthen the muscles that are often overlooked in sport, while developing core strength, stability, mobility, coordination and body awareness.
The result? Young athletes who can move with more control, confidence and resilience — both in training and competition.
It’s not about doing more. It’s about training smarter from a young age.🤍
