Awakening and cultivating conscious awareness of how we are, and how we experience ourselves - moment to moment

23/03/2026

Interoception, proprioception, coenesthesia, kinaesthesia, somesthesis, somaesthetics, corporeality, felt sense, tacit knowledge, body awareness, body consciousness, somatic awareness, body connection, lived body, subjective body…

Conceptualising the feeling of being a body in the world (let alone measuring it in its holistic form) is like trying to grasp smoke. The literature is pretty fragmented, and embodied research, whilst certainly gaining more traction in the field of psychology, seems to hit an invisible wall whereby it can’t quite capture the essence of embodiment, despite the ‘knowing’ that it’s fundamental to our health.

As a researcher it’s a methodological headache, but as a practitioner it kinda means nothing because that essence, that knowing, is expressed, felt and transmitted within and between bodies. Yes, words and metaphors help us to point towards sensory potential, but the knowing is in the embodied experience. It’s pre-linguistic, ephemeral, and resists being ‘known’ in an intellectual sense.

I absolutely LOVED teaching this weekend for The group energy was 👌 We sensed and felt our way through time and space, within and between ourselves. And now I’m trying my hardest to put my academic hat back on and return to my embodiment ‘studies’. The irony is REAL! 😂

Me and March 2020, on our way to her fascia training course in Paris. Little did we know that the world was about to shut down.

It’s bonkers to think that we went from 3d to 2d overnight. And somehow we, and , managed to produce a corker of an online training course and the 2nd edition of Jo’s book during those zoom-heavy, unstable and quite frankly weird times.

I’ll always be grateful for the multiple layers of learning that emerged throughout that process and I’m thrilled to be back in the physical world co-facilitating a fascia workshop with Jo for in a few weeks time, 21st and 22nd March in Brighton. Check out for more info.

Embodiment is a feeling.

For me it’s one of self-compassion, safety and relational presence. It has a subterranean quality, a rich silence beneath all my conditioning.

It’s the experience of curiously attending inwards, noticing sensation, texture, rhythm, shape, volume, depth, movement, and relationships; and observing, living, how that somehow subtly reconfigures the world around me.

We’ll be exploring what embodiment means to you on Sunday 8th March , West Sussex. A day of movement inquiry consolidated with a beautiful sound bath to leave you feeling restored and invigorated.

This event is open to all ❤️ Details in my bio ❤️

A big theme that emerged in yesterday’s workshop was that ⚡️⚡️embodiment is relational⚡️⚡️

The two women captured here, are exploring their core-distal relationship, that is, the sense of their structure, pushing out from their spine in 360 degrees, whilst simultaneously sensing a whole body tensional pull back in toward their centre. And most beautifully, they’re sensing and modulating this internal relationship, moment-to-moment, through their relationship to each other (and the ever present ground).

These tension-compression forces have been at play since conception, as an emerging embryo in a fluid filled sac, our structures growing and folding at different rates and different densities giving rise to a balance of push and pull forces across multiple scales, as a foetus sensing itself through the resistance of the uterine wall, and the developing infant vertically unfolding away from the ground and the relentless tug of gravity. And we go throughout life attracted and repelled in relation to ideas, places, spaces, others…and with others we may go onto conceive, and the whole thing continues to spiral…

Relationship brings us into being, endlessly.

and 🧡 you and thank you for being both the container and the space within this weekend. Can’t wait to join forces with you again in the spring 🌱
