Sussed can be very proud of their performance this weekend at the 10U county cup.
The goals of the weekend were to focus on:

βœ… teamwork: working hard for each other
βœ… respect: for each other, opponents, officials, opponents and themselves.
βœ… competitive attitude: believe in yourself and play brave and aggressive tennis whether they are up, level or down on the score board.
βœ… resilience: to learn the effort it takes to keep the competitive attitude when the scoreboard goes against you.

The players really dedicated themselves to these goals throughout the weekend, and there was a significant improvement from the first to the last match. Sussex rallied after a difficult loss to Berkshire in their first match, to then sweep Oxfordshire 6-0. Setting up a small opportunity if they beat the favourites Bucks in the last match. In a tough round of singles, Mathew playing someone ranked 220 places above him (U11) managed to win and keep the doubles live.

The team then rallied around the doubles and played some unbelievable tennis to nearly force a shootout, but it wasn’t to be.

A great experience for the boys who traveled - great friendships formed and lessons learnt πŸ’ͺ

Showing that with a great attitude on the court anything is possible! πŸ’ͺπŸŽΎπŸ‘ŠπŸŽΎ

Shout out & thanks to Coach Sam and the parents! πŸ™Œ 13/05/2025
