And after almost 10 years Smile Longboards is closing its doors.
It’s been a great long journey and I think we can say we helped push the UK and Europe longboard scene, especially when it comes to freestyle and longboard dancing. I want to send a massive thank you to everyone that supported us over the years including all our customers, all the companies we worked alongside with and everyone that hosted us around Europe. I’ve met some incredible people and I’m stoked that some of those will be my friends for life. For those wondering the reasons the shop is closing, it’s because I just had a rad little boy which leaves me very little free time. I also have a reoccurring knee injury that makes skating very difficult and running a skate shop when you can’t really skate ain’t that much fun. Smile was always something we did for fun rather than money but I just don’t have the ability to carry on, at least for now.
I also want to send a huge thank you to all of our team riders who have helped so much over the last few years. They will carry on as a team and will be taking over our social media channels continuing to spread the stoke and showing you guys some cool stuff.
Last but not least let me thank Gary Ewes, the guy that started this whole thing and got us hooked in longboarding at a time very few knew anything about the sport and who was my partner for a good few years a while back and responsible for most of Smile’s design work.
