A Western Rite Orthodox community worshipping and witnessing in the heart of the city of Brighton & Hove (UK).
We worship at Brighton Congress Hall just off Union Road at the top of The Level near the Open Market. We are a "church outside the box" meeting and being with people "where they are"! We meet daily for worship in Brighton Congress Hall in the centre of Brighton. We run a not-for-profit kitchen franchise "Cherubs" in pubs raising funds for local food/homeless projects and provide commercial cateri
ng experience and training for those seeking to return to or begin a career in catering. We are a member of Churches Together in Central Brighton and collaborate with other Christian groups witnessing to Christ in this city. We worship offering the traditional Latin Mass:
Daily Mass 0830/10am
As a church, we seek to serve especially those people who, for a variety of reasons, circumstances and issues, feel unable to find a spiritual home in, and are uncomfortable with, the larger mainstream churches. Though firmly rooted in traditional Orthodox Catholicism, we endeavour to portray the Faith in its most charitable expression and re-present it in an accessible way to demonstrate the love of God in Christ for all people, whoever they are and in whatever circumstances of life they find themselves in. The parable of the Prodigal Son [Luke 15:11-32] and the example of the Good Shepherd [John 10:1-21] and the principle "the salvation of souls is the highest law" strongly underlies our ethos and approach to pastoral ministry. Our Oratory is part of the Old Roman Catholic Church in Europe, a communion of National Churches faithful to the principles of Old Roman Catholicism. The Old Roman Catholic Church was received as an autocephalous member of the Holy Synod of the Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch in 1911.
