After a massive and almost immediate hike in my social media content management software, I'm sampling out a new system. Let's see how this goes!

If you're a marketer, war really can make you feel ridiculous as you carry on with your everyday life. I'm not always a Mark Ritson fan, but I like this article. Brands have a history of responding appropriately. They can respond appropriately. And they must.

At times of war marketing is rendered superficial and ridiculous Given what's happening in the world right now marketing really doesn't matter, but there are ways brands can respond without appearing tone deaf.

The importance of professional headshots for entrepreneurs - or anyone in business for that matter.
I was happy to make my small contribution to this article by Addition Finance. https://bit.ly/39G5QRn
Picture Perfect β The Importance of Professional Headshots for Entrepreneurs The make or break power of imagery in marketing really canβt be overstated. It takes less than 0.2 of a second for a visitor to make an opinion about a brand based on their website or landing page. And since itβs estimated that images are processed 60,000 times faster than text in the brain, pic...

Well this is a bit scary. The 10K distance is fine but the start line and other people running at the same time β¦ Iβm not so sure.
Good practice for London next October but Iβm so frightened that Iβve put my old pair of Ghost 12s on as a comfort blanket. ππ»ββοΈπ

This isn't rocket science ... B2B marketing should always be about generating enquiries of the right quality and the right type.
The article also epitomises the true difference between sales and marketing. The former is immediate and about the numbers here and now. The latter is about positioning and a more valuable longer-term relationship.
https://bit.ly/2WWsLVK
The 95:5 rule is the new 60:40 rule B2B marketers shouldn't be spending time and money convincing out-of-market buyers to consider a purchase but instead invest in making every buyer remember their brand next time they need its product.

Who else has gotten an email like this from a client before? Sometimes it's hard to come up with a professional response that doesn't show our true feelings, but we're always looking for new ways to turn down requests like this.Β Β π¬
How do you deal with someone asking for "help" on something that you typically charge for?

Today my daughter is 21 years old (yes, I know I don't look old enough π). I find that with birthdays comes reflection - and never more so when it's a 'special' birthday.
One of the birthday cards that I sent Lucy highlighted key events during her lifetime, some of which are:
π 2001 - the iPad was launched.... the iWhat?
π 2004 - Facebook launched and we spent our days poking each other. The institution that has become Strictly Come Dancing also launched.
π 2007 - Hello iPhone.
π 2009 - America's first African-American President was elected.
π 2010 - the Icelandic volcano eruption caused chaos.
π 2012 - London hosted the Olympics and a nation was brought together by sport.
π 2014 - the Tower of London poppies enchanted us all.
π 2015 - Tim Peake goes off to space.
π 2016 - Leicester City wins the premier league (it wasn't a dream!).
π 2019 - Man runs the fastest marathon ever helped by some super-duper shoes.
π 2020 - The world locked down.
So much has happened and so much has changed during her 21 years. Some of these changes we may have anticipated, many we would not.
For businesses in the UK, and indeed, across the globe, these events will have brought with them opportunities and threats brought about through changes in technology, the environment, our society, the economy and more.
A part of the role of marketing in this world is to anticipate what these things might be and to mitigate the risks and maximise the opportunities that they bring.
Which analysis tools do you use to identify what the world around you may bring to your business? The analysis is easy - but making it meaningful is less so. ( I can help with that if you're struggling).
But for today, I will mostly be eating birthday cake. π°
