A question I get asked ALOT....especially by females who don't want to look 'bulky' it is SO important for everyone but arguably even more important for women as we age ....
So here's why...
πββοΈLifting weights builds muscle effectively giving you that 'toned' look everyone asks for.
πBuilding muscle increases your BMR (basal metabolic rate), the higher your BMR the more calories your burn throughout the day ... even at rest!
Muscle tissue needs to use lots more calories than fat tissue ..... which means you can eat more π€ͺπ
Weight training also ....
π¦΄Maintains / increases bone density ... something that decreases with age which increases the risk of bone related diseases like osteoporosis
πRelieves stress as it triggers those endorphins
πΆββοΈImproves posture
π΄Improves sleep
π§ Works wonder for your mental health
πͺThere is SO much variety to mix it up and change things ... instead of just plodding away on a traditional cardio machine π΄
This is not to say you shouldn't do cardio.... as its a fantastic way to raise your heart rate, get sweaty and brings enjoyment .... it also gives us a healthy heart and lungs πββοΈ and will burn lots of calories....BUT the long benefits of weight training are huge!
