Weekly Report – U11 Girls ⚽️

Another home league game for the U11 girls this weekend, this time against a new team, Avon Athletic.

The first quarter was an evenly matched contest, with both teams well balanced. In the second quarter, we created some good chances but struggled to convert them.

The second half became more one-sided, and there were plenty of positives to take from the girls’ performance.

Well played to everybody today! A special mention to Milana, who played her first competitive game as our goalkeeper, and to Lottie and Maddie for their strong defensive display. Elise also played a pivotal role in the centre of midfield, helping to drive the team forward.

Our Player of the Match was Lilia, who was a constant threat up front and was recognised for her excellent striking prowess. ⚽️🏆

BACK-TO-BACK 8-0 WINS!

Another brilliant result for the girls today, making it two 8-0 wins on the bounce! 👏🏼🔥

We came flying out of the blocks, with Milana scoring a hat-trick inside the first five minutes! We controlled most of the first half, although became a little complacent at times, before Lena finished well to send us into half-time 4-0 up.

The message at the break was to raise our standards, improve our passing and create more as a team.

Jess clearly took the message to go and get more goals seriously! She grabbed a second-half hat-trick, including two goals through pure graft and determination and an absolute wonder strike off the post into the top corner!

Leila completed the scoring, getting the goal her hard-working and battling performance deserved.

Another great result with plenty still to work on!

🏆 PLAYERS OF THE WEEK — MILANA & JESS 🏆

⭐ MILANA — After a dry spell last week, she certainly brought her shooting boots today! A hat-trick inside five minutes, showing real composure with three cool, tidy finishes.

⭐ JESS — Ruthless in front of goal with a second-half hat-trick. Two came from sheer determination and tenacity, while the third was an unbelievable strike off the post and into the top corner. Her confidence grew throughout and at times she was unplayable!

Well done, girls! 👏🏼

The weekend just gone we played a tough team at home against almondsbury, who turned up full of confidence and that shown going 1 up early on.
But our girls showed grit and determination by staying in the game. Our 1st goal scorer as never previously scored so this one was special and she does deserve it with the amount of hard work she puts in. Harper I know how proud you are of playing for this team and getting your first goal is special.
Southmead were constantly under pressure by almondsbury but our super keeper kept us in the game. With her big kicks from hand put pressure on there defence. Which allowed us to get higher to score our 2nd from Rosie. Finishing the game at 2-1

POTM was Amelie, this girl has it all. The quick feet, the skills, the ability to find passes through defenders. She was fantastic today right from the first whistle to the last. Non stop. Well done 💚🤍

Last week our girls played there first game at home against Bristol ladies union!

After being out muscled in our last game we worked on strength at training, and the girls most definitely bought there training on the pitch!
We started strong, with some fantastic running down the wing and a great cross from Jazmine lead us to our first Goal put away by Rosie.
Just before half time a great goal kick assisted Rosie to score another fantastic goal.

Second half and our girls lacked to react for a second on a throw in which lead to blues putting one away for themselves.
Minutes from end the girls were still giving 100% and some fantastic team football, Layla made another great run up the line and Assisted Amelie on her first well deserved Goal of the season.
Fantastic game girls Well Done. UTM

POTM was Jazmine! joining us in the summer, and only her second match with us. She showed what an impact she makes on the team!
Being reactive, driving the ball forward and creating chances for southmead.
Well done Jazmine 💚

SOUTHMEAD U14 GIRLS

Southmead 8-0 Clevedon

What a reaction from the girls! 👏

After the disappointment of our opening-day defeat, a result and performance like this was exactly what we needed. The girls were outstanding from start to finish as we ran out 8-0 winners.

On an overgrown and very bobbly pitch, we still stuck to the way we want to play. We looked to play through the lines, built from the back with confidence and patience, and produced some brilliant football along the way. Some of the team goals today were absolutely superb. 🔥

A huge shoutout to Clevedon, who had some very late dropouts and arrived with only 10 players for this morning’s game. The match was played in a fantastic spirit, their girls never stopped working or gave up, and they were an absolute pleasure to play against. Massive credit to them. 🤝

PLAYER OF THE WEEK — LEILA

What a performance.

Leila was dominant throughout the whole game. Starting on the right wing, she was physical, composed and took her goal brilliantly.

She was then moved up front, where she was absolutely relentless. Her work rate was phenomenal and she didn’t give the defenders a minute’s rest. She pressed, battled, competed for everything and did everything we asked of her today.

A phenomenal all-round display and thoroughly deserved Player of the Week. Well done, Leila! 👏

A brilliant response from the whole squad and plenty to build on.

🟢WEEKEND WRITE UP U11’S🟢
Week 2 and the first home game for the Southmead U11 Girls. With 8 players this week, we took on Bradley Stoke Youth, a team we had played in a friendly a week or so ago. Similar to last week, we started a little slow, but grew into the game, showing some excellent interplay moving the ball from the back to the front. The final quarter was nerve racking for the parents and coaches, but very exciting. There were some strong performances from both Freya's, Lottie and Maddie, but the PoTM for her role in goal was Isla. We go again next week at home against Fry Club JFC Wanderers.
