β¨π Yoga with Nina - Tues 7:15am πβ¨
Space 238
Phewph.. this social media thing can bit a little overwhelming sometimes. Every now and again, I'll take a brief hiatus from posting and sharing. It may well be because teaching and planning sessions is taking up so much of my time that something has to give. Without direct feedback, Social Media can feel like word vomit and in quite a vulnerable way.
Someone suggested once that sharing parts of yourself online is even more exhausting because those parts of you are constantly out there; a piece of you is continuously generating energy by simply existing in the ether. Food for thought right???
This has also meant that I've been putting my focus on non-sleep rest and the moments you get to sit, reset and restore. It's a really powerful way for me to increase creative development AND improve my actual sleep patterns!
Anywho.. Classes online and in-person are thriving and so are my tomatoes, courgettes and sunflowers πβ¨π» which is more than I could ever ask for!!
If you have any questions about classes throughout the week, don't hesitate to ask!
I hope to see you soon in class..

Would you like to slow it down!? Would you like a space to be held? Is the thing that's missing from your caring routine, gentle exploration of supported movement?
I'll just leave this here.

Do you ever wonder if you're 'doing it right'?
This feels like such a contentious discussion of any movement practice. Not just yoga but all types of movement. Your approach to movement will be completely different from the person next to you. For SO many reasons. Here's a few:
π You move because it feels yummy
π You have a regular movement practice and want to refine it
π You move for fun, that's it, just fun.
π You move because you're healing a part of the body
π You practice a movement because you'd like to become better at it
π You move because you like a challenge
π You move because you want to improve your strength and balance
There's so many more but what I'd like to highlight is this..
Our bodies like some things and don't like others. We tend not to move 'badly' or 'wrong' but not always in ways that cultivate the changes (or maintenance) we're looking for. AND THAT DEPENDS ON WHAT IT IS YOU'RE LOOKING FOR! π
Just to note:- there are 'unsafe' ways to move / ways that can cause damage.
When we 'TUNE IN' in a 1-2-1 session, we don't yoga, rinse, repeat what we've seen in other classes, online or in person. We deep dive into the way YOU feel good moving and where you'd like to go next. We meet the body where it's at and instead of questioning if we're 'doing it right' we move (with this information) into asking 'is this movement serving me?', and it's usually SUCH a relief to find out.
Get in touch if you'd like to know a little more about private yoga / movement sessions.

I'll be teaching a few more sessions weekly at Hotpod Yoga Bristol for just a little while. It's temporary because something wonderful is happening for someone wonderful I know!!!
If you already visit our space and you're wondering if coming to a class more than once a week is ok.. it is if it's right for your body. In the same way I know teaching more than one class a week is ok for me because I listened, you'll know as well.
See you Wednesday AND maybe Saturday too π

Soooooo.. it seems our Friday evening space has become a place to practice some balancing. Gradually over the year I've been teaching at Space 238 this class has evolved. Listening and observing we've arrived at a Friday 5:30pm class, with the practice joyful arm balances, inversions, flow and play. I'm LOVING teaching this.
My approach to teaching is often from a science informed perspective. I am a perpetual learner and am studying continuously alongside facilitation. I think it's almost impossible to study yoga without extending your educational sensibilities to it's philosophy and anthropological qualities.
This means we end up approaching shapes with information, not just regarding the way the body may move into them, but how the mind can move too.
Come and practice and see..x

β¨π€ΈThis class becomes more and more playful each week. π€Έβ¨
Friday 5:30pm Space 238
Play is so important to relieve stress and at times focus the mind on flow-state tasks. The phrase 'time flies when you're having fun' comes to mind.
We take movement seriously in that we remain safe and gather all the information we need to practice and then we make choices to have fun and move in new ways.
I love teaching this class and although your practice is all about you, there's a little bit of my teaching style in here. A style that hopefully bring out a smile, maybe a 'wow, that was cool' or a cool sigh of absolute satisfaction.
Step into play on a Friday afternoon.

β¨ It is ok to slow down β¨
Yoga doesn't have to be Sun Salutations and Handstands. It can be laying and stretching. It can be 20 different shapes but it can also be 5 or 6.
This is that class. See you on Friday's 1pm Clifton Sky Yoga ..x

π ..say it, without having to explain yourself.. π
I realised the other day that Iβm an adult and I donβt actually have to do stuff. That if something doesnβt feel right, I get to trust my intuition/gut feeling/ canβt be arsed-ness and say no. I then get to choose something else. Imagine that!!
It only took me 36 years. π

β¨ππ Hot yoga on Wednesday ππβ¨
I feel quite 'free' teaching this class. There is a baseline for our practice, a general structure and then each class, I get to switch it up a little. It seems strange that teaching a similar class each week might feeling like freedom but stay with me..
When your body moves from memory, recalling shapes and transitions, familiar and rhythmic motions, that fit so well together.. that.. that feels like freedom. When you throw in the warmth of the room, massaging muscles and bone, you've got a recipe for a weekly commitment and a morning serotonin boost.
Book soon.. the waitlist gets quite big!
