Hi my lovely Pilates people.
New term starts on the 19th of April.

I don't like posting videos or even pictures of me on here. But over the next couple of weeks I am hoping to put more content on this page.
So, keep your eyes open for some videos!

That's if I can work out how to do it! I will most definitely not be speaking in my videos.
I am a proud Bristolian woman but that doesn't mean I need to hurt peoples ears with my accent!!!!

Concentration, relaxation, alignment, breathing, centring, coordination, flowing movement, precision and stamina are the principles of Pilates.

There are lots to think about when you are in a Pilates class. It’s my job as an instructor to guide you through the class so you get the full benefit.

You will hear the words core, pelvic floor, pelvic alignment, neutral spine in my class. Also, “slow it down” and “use your breath”. All these things will help you achieve your goal.

Whether your goal is to improve tone, have better flexibility, have better posture, gain more connection with your body and mind, increase your core strength, decrease back pain, prevent injury, rehabilitate your body after sickness or injury, increase your energy, relieve stress, improve balance, boost your immunity or even to strengthen your bones, then come to a class. The health benefits are enormous.

I emphasis focus on the fundamentals of Pilates – making sure you have a connection with your core, or as Joseph Pilates called it, your ‘power house’. All movements start at the core, which is a band of muscles that go around your waist, just like a big belt.

I concentrate on your alignment, lengthening through the body from your feet all the way through to the crown of your head. Also, your pelvic alignment has an important role to play in Pilates. This ensures that your core is engaged and your muscles are firing up and working.

Breath is key when taking part in a class – we inhale deeply and exhale fully. Breathing in through the nose and then out through the mouth. Our breath allows our body to have a deeper connection with our core and help with controlling our movement, aiding us with our precision and flow. As we inhale, we concentrate our breath up into our ribcage, expanding our ribs out to the sides and into our back.

Fallen into the Instagram trap again!!! 🙄🙄

Has anyone else been looking through their Instagram stories, tick tick or YouTube shorts and all you see is tanned toned muscle bodies executing perfect Pilates moves?

I have!!!!

Did it make you feel inadequate??
Because it certainly made me feel inadequate.

Don't let those so called "perfect" bodies put you off.
Thinking that there is no way I can do that.

False!!!

Pilates is for everyone!! Literally EVERYONE!!
Big, small, fat, thin, male, female, coordinated, uncoordinated, weak, strong anything!!!

You can do it!!!

Just show up to a class!
See what your body can really do, and silence that mind that keeps telling you it's impossible!!
