Are you interested in croquet but worried you might be beaten by your opponents? Don’t worry – croquet has a handicap system. Players are awarded ‘bisques’, which are extra turns, to help them stay in the game. In her second season, Toto was awarded 21.5 bisques for a single match.

Waiting and Weeding
Much-loved member Mike Chan passed away earlier this year. He was always busy keeping the weeds under control, filling in the holes made by various birds and animals and so on.
So, it is good to have something to remember him by on a daily basis - his weeding tools are now available in the buckets at every rest shelter so there's no excuse for weed-ridden lawns - no problem in removing one or two while waiting for your opponent to arrive.
What could be better than that - playing croquet whilst gardening – the best of both worlds!

Bristol CC recently held an afternoon of fun croquet challenges and American Supper. But the element of competition was never far away and the overall winner of the challenge was David Goacher with Eric Soakell a close runner up.
Thanks to Lisa and Andy and the team for organising such a great day.

Early in the morning, bathed in soft sunlight, the lawn was packed with people—what a delightful sight.

Neil Kingston won the Budleigh Salterton and the Watford B-Level AC tournaments. At Budleigh, Neil dropped only one game getting to five out of six, but that left his rival, Tony hicks, on the same score going into the final round, with "who beat whom" favouring Tony; Neil won his final game and had a nail-biting time watching Chris Donovan defeat Tony to leave Neil on 6/7 and Tony on 5/7.

Sue Bellew won the Budleigh Salterton C-Level GC tournament. She dropped only one game in her block, defeating the only other player to drop only one game to progress on "who beat whom", and then convincingly won successive games in the knock-out 7-1, 7-4, 7-2 and qualified for the Croquet England GC Bronze Merit Award https://www.croquet.org.uk/?p=tournament/CalInfo/MeritAwardSchemes
Well done Sue!
