β˜€οΈπŸŒŠ DROWNING PREVENTION WEEK | 13th–20th June πŸŒŠβ˜€οΈ

With the recent hot weather, more people are looking to cool off in rivers, lakes and at the coast. While open water may look inviting, it can be far more dangerous than many people realise.

Every year, hundreds of lives are lost to accidental drowning in the UK. Hot weather significantly increases the risk as more people enter the water, often unaware of hidden dangers such as cold water shock, strong currents and sudden drops in depth.

πŸ’™ Know the risks. Save a life.

βœ… Never swim alone
βœ… Choose lifeguarded areas where possible
βœ… Never swim in the sea on a red flag
βœ… Always tell someone where you’re going

If you unexpectedly find yourself in difficulty in the water:

πŸ›Ÿ FLOAT TO LIVE
β€’ Tilt your head back with your ears submerged
β€’ Relax and try to control your breathing
β€’ Move your hands and feet gently to stay afloat
β€’ Once calm, call for help or swim to safety

This Drowning Prevention Week (13th–20th June), take a moment to learn water safety skills and share this message with family and friends. Awareness saves lives.

Together, we can help ensure everyone enjoys the water safely this summer. β˜€οΈπŸŒŠ
