STRONG AND FIT

I have launched a group online programme and I’m looking for people to test it for free!

All I need in return from you is honest feedback on both the content and how user friendly the app is!

The programme will consist of strength training and conditioning.

There are 3 mandatory session per week with 2 optional extra days with options of what you would like to do extra work in!

You need to have some level of training experience but videos will help you identify what you have to do for each part!

Exercise ex*****on-

Orrrr more importantly range of motion (ROM)

Here we have my 9 month old son demonstrating a ‘perfect’ depth squat. This means both his hip and knee joints are at full flexion. Doing this means all the muscles you want to use in a squat are being used to their full capacity therefore giving you what you want from the selected exercise, in this case the squat.

This doesn’t only apply to the squat though. It applies to literally every resistance exercise you’ve ever done. If you’re not doing the movement to its full capacity then you’re not getting what you want out of it so what is the point? It’s just wasted energy.

Can’t squat to depth with a bar on your back?

DONT SQUAT WITH A BAR ON YOUR BACK.

This is the exact reason I believe everyone who is new to the gym should seriously think about investing in coaching of some form, even if it’s only a tiny amount. You’ll learn more than enough to stop you from making these mistakes we so often see in gyms and more importantly save yourself a lot of what could be wasted time!

Good Afternoon World…

It’s safe to say I haven’t used Instagram properly for a while now due to the madness that is life!

So I thought I’d post a little about me and what you can expect to see from me in the future.

I’m Chris, I’ve been a personal trainer for 7 years now and in that time I have helped hundreds of people on their fitness journeys. Including goals such as weight loss, muscle gain, improving strength, sport specifics and injury rehab.

In 2019 I decided it was time to level up my business and enrolled in MNU and became a certified evidence based nutritionist.

Over the last couple of years the above has given me the knowledge to really hone my skills into what I’m really good at and where I’ve seen most progress.

Training wise most commonly people come to me to gain knowledge on how to use weights, gain muscle, strength and generally feel better about themselves.

They leave not only with the above knowledge but a strong understanding of how to live the same sociable life they love alongside being in great shape with a love of going to the gym.

What Type of Coaching Would Suit You Best?

Following on from my last post…

There are different types of coaching available to you and these are the factors that you should consider before choosing.

- How experienced are you in the gym?

- What is your budget?

- How long will you need to be coached for?

- What is your goal?

In my opinion if you are brand new to the gym environment then 1-2-1 coaching is an absolute must and even then as I say to any potential client you are better off doing PT as often as you can when you first start (twice per week minimum) just to allow you to learn key parts of training otherwise you’ll find you just end up going over the same kind of stuff every time which will actually cost you more in the long run!

If you’re an experienced person in the gym then maybe all you need is someone to be accountable to or just some fine tuning in the way of programming, people in this category will probably be fine just to have online coaching.

All options are open to people of any experience but if you would like me to advise you on what would be best for you to do then please drop me a message!

SHOULD YOU HIRE A COACH?

The answer to this question in my opinion is very very rarely no.

Every single person can benefit from having a coach in their corner. The simple reason for this is that progression in any form is simply an art to achieve.

Even if you look at any elite sports person from any sport on the planet they all have coaches. So if they are elite level and still benefit from a coach why on earth would you not?

Talking in fitness terms now, having a PT or even an online coach won’t only take all of the guess work out for you but will be there to keep you accountable and solve any issues that are hindering you from that progression you’re so desperate for.

Whether your goal is as simple as fat loss (not always that simple by the way) or as complex as increasing performance for a sport you absolutely will benefit from having a coach.

Now you’ve all had your time to cry (including myself) about the gyms etc closing. There’s nothing we can do, this is needed and we need to get on with it. ⁣

Control the controllables- ⁣
Guess what? There’s absolutely f**k all you can do about the gyms shutting unless your name is Boris so what is the point in wasting your energy bitching about it? ⁣

What can you control? ⁣
How you approach this lockdown, I for one will not just make do this time. I will do everything within my power to ensure both myself and my clients still progress, just maintaining will not cut it this time. ⁣
Take that energy you were about to use bitching about life not being fair and put it into making sure you still succeed. ⁣

I have managed to sort a good amount of gym kit and will be doing PT outdoors, it’s not ideal but we have to do what we have to do! If you are interested in joining the team and making sure you still progress through this lockdown then let’s talk. ⁣

In the run up to Christmas especially when we are just coming out of lockdown it will be very easy for you to do either of the extremes; ⁣

𝐅𝐮𝐜𝐤 𝐢𝐭 𝐈’𝐥𝐥 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐢𝐧 𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 ⁣

𝐈 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐚𝐬 𝐦𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐰𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐚𝐬 𝐈 𝐜𝐚𝐧 b𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐦𝐚𝐬⁣

In truth doing either of these is actually fine... However, your best option is just to step back into control of your fitness and diet. ⁣

Use the next 3 weeks to regain you’re training and dieting routine. Get yourself started on a goal specific training plan with and match that with a diet that will help you achieve these goals. ⁣

Doing either of the things I mentioned above will get your nowhere. Going to the extreme of losing as much as you can before Christmas is a great idea but it will be so easy to fall out of a strict diet plan over Christmas and put all of your hard earned weight loss back on, this in turn could dent your motivation and end up putting you in a worse spot than you’re in now, but then it may not. ⁣

I don’t even know what to say about this dude, has done absolutely everything I’ve told him and he has blown me away with his results! ⁣

Despite being the most boozy dude in Britain the entire time 🍺 ⁣

We made space for his partying and he made sure he ticked every box to allow him to do this while still making progress. ⁣

The base of this transformation was building good habits, once those habits are built anything is possible. They can be the difference between smashing your goals and not even getting off the ground. ⁣
