It gets very lonely without feedback
PHOENIX JUDO CLUB.
A DIFFERENT STYLE OF MARTIAL ARTS CLUB.
HOW ARE WE DIFFERENT?
The simple answer is cost. PHOENIX JUDO CLUB believes in being affordable. The club, for that is what we are and not a business, has a monthly fee of £20. This is a family group price and gives access to our twice weekly training sessions for any number of family members. No child needs to be left out. Coaches and volunteers are not paid, not even expenses. We continue to train during the school holidays. We also run social events during the year.
Yes, we offer all the usual benefits of a martial art. SKILL, FUN, SELF-IMPROVEMENT all of which builds CONFIDENCE. You can of course get this from any Martial Arts provider.
The club is proud of the fact that playing time is not restricted. No, each player gets the same 2 hours per week to develop their skill. A Judo player, unlike a Footballer, is not competing for a place in the team. Judo is an individual game so a Judoka would be looking to demonstrate personal development. The club encourages the individual player to think.
I DON’T HAVE TO BE THE BEST IN THE CLUB, JUST BETTER THAN I WAS LAST WEEK. This is an archivable goal.
We are open Wednesdays 6.30pm For Boys and Girls 8+also Saturday morning 10.30 am. Just turn up, take part or watch.
The £20 family price covers both sessions for all the family.
We would love to start an adult session on Wednesday evening at 8.00. Interested? Why not say so in the comments

For the past few months I've not had the time to post on this site, that is going to change. I am wondering about the following and looking for guidence from visitors to our page. The club is affiliated to the BJA, the national governing body for Judo in the UK
The club has always kept prices low. We currently have a familly price of £20 per month. This covers 2 training sessions per week, for any number of children in the family. Our aim is to be inclusive.
How is this achivable? The club has been practicing at the same venue, a community facility, for over 14 years. The management of this venue appreciate our inclusive approach and this is reflected in their hire fee. The club fee currently covers cost of hire. The coach and volunteers recieve no payment, not even expences.
That is how we keep the club affordable.
There are other providers of " Martial Arts" locally charging £70 per month per child. I am often asked do we keep our prices low because we are not very good. We reguarly struggle to recruit members. It can be seen from our photos and videios that we have our share of success.Question. Does a low price structure indicate a Mcdojo style of organisation? Your opinion please.

Our first outbreak of chaos, fun and mayhem will be at KEYNSHAM PARK. not the main park but the field and fitness circuit next to the big Carpark just behind the sports centre, entrance off of the A4. Meet at 11.00. an hour of games. Can you imagine playing" SN**CH THE TAIL FROM THE DONKEKY" on a large field?
something a bit more restful after that. Using two Crash mats we will do a 30 minute theory session. [ Some players need to be a yellow belt before November}.
Mark and myself have organised a relay circuit based on the length of a junior contest. we have 5 activities with a 2 minute break in between each set. Then I've organised for myself and Mark our lunch, just a casual meal. Steak Chips salad Onion rings, all brought by a Deliveroo rider this will give youngsters the chance to eat their sandwiches. Then the event that the parents have been demanding. Rounders. Played on a large field. Then time to go home. these activities are suitable for all. The more that turn up the greater the Fun. If any ex members are reading this they are welcome to come has well.
