Wick FC Swifts

Wick FC Swifts are looking for a female coach to assist with our new girls development team.

The team was set up back in October 23 and having just 4 girls initially, we have now grown to over 20 girls aged 8-12 years participating weekly.

All the girls have said they would benefit from an additional coach to help improve their game and would love to have someone who fits in with the atmosphere and inclusive team we are creating to be part of our journey.

We are creating an inclusive team that allows all to be themselves, inclusive of SEN. No trials, no hierarchy, no pressure - just a group of girls brought together to share their love of football and develop at their own pace. Everyone playing their part and getting equal playtime.

Over the next 18 months, alongside 2 x weekly sessions that are available, we will compete in friendly matches and summer tournaments.

The girls have communicated what attributes they would like in their new coach:

Our main training session takes place on Saturdays 10.30am - 11.45am at Wick Football Club, BS30. We also have a 5aside session that takes place on Thursdays.
Matches and tournaments take place on Saturdays/Sundays.

Saturday availability is a must! Other days can be flexible, although the more you can attend the more integrated you can be in the team.

This is a voluntary position, but there is
potential for paid job opportunities in the future for the right person.

Why did Coach Hannah decide to set up the team?

'I was approached by a few parents whos girls were interested in the sport but have had difficulty when they had tried other clubs - such as finding the atmosphere too pressured for example.

After such a successful past 18 months for the Lionesses, I want to be able to offer opportunities for girls to get involved in football and enjoy the beautiful game through simple enjoyment.

I was part of the generation where girls 'couldn't and shouldn't play football' our Lionesses have begun to make moves to change this. We are still a long way off but if I can help provide footballing opportunities to just a handful of young teens, who are the age category who are most likely to fall out of love with sport if not pursued in the right environment, it will be a positive influence into equality within the world of football.

Wick FC Swifts will be a team where there is no heirarchy, no favouritism, no pressure and all abilities are welcome. A team that wins and loses as a team. Where every individual plays an equal part.
