A proud night for Bristol & West AC. 🎉

We came home from the England Athletics Regional Volunteer Awards with three honours.

Huge congratulations to Eugene Hechavarria, named Unsung Hero of the Year, and to Paul Weston, winner of Services to Athletics and Running. Two people who give so much to the club, usually without any fuss, and both thoroughly deserving.

We were also proud to be named third in Club of the Year. That one belongs to everyone. Every coach, official, volunteer and member who has given their time and stuck with us has helped get the club to where it is now.

Thank you to Athletics for a brilliant evening, and thank you to everyone who plays their part. There's plenty still to come.

Less than 24 hours after his second silver medal win, Ben was back at the track Monday, after the European Athletics in Birmingham.

The children, parents and adult athletes loved chatting to Ben about the races whilst also getting a glimpse of the impressive medals!

If you have loved watching the European Athletics Championships please think about volunteering regularly at your local grass roots athletics club.

Most are in need of more volunteers – coaches, officials, team managers, committee positions – you will have the skills to do something for them and training is usually available.

If you are in the Bristol area and would like to get involved please get in touch with us.
