We finished in 3rd position in regular league!
Amazing two victories in the last regular session of the league:

We played against UWE 2 and UWE 1 in the last regular session of the Bristol and District League, winning both matches 2-0.

First match was against UWE 2, that it's a team in development, they are mostly new incomers, but it didn't mean that they would give away the match. We were tight until the first 15 points, after this we managed to score more points in our serves and make the difference. In the second set we were superior and we got a bigger gap compared to the first set. The scores were 25-15 and 25-10.

The second match we faced the actual 3rd ranked team, UWE 1. Most of them are experienced players and play in the University League. We started 4 points down due our mistakes in reception and attack, but then we found the confidence and started playing our game. We had similar both sets and they were very tight, getting the same score (20-20) in the end of each one. The final scores were 25-23 and 25-23.

We want to give thanks for playing such amazing games against both UWE teams.

With these results, we ended up 3rd in the regular season. It means that we are in the top pool to play for winning the league!

We played against Bristol University and Cardiff VC last weekend, on Saturday, 3rd of February. We won both matches for 2-0 with very good performance in the first match.
The first match was against Bristol University, we were solid in reception, good set and we did several points in attack. The points against were the most for personal mistakes when we tried to play the ball. The score was 25-18 and 25-23.

The second match was against Cardiff VC; we did a very good first set and we didn't allow them to be leading the set. In the second set, we were leading by seven points, but several mistakes in reception, sets and attack, left us 2 points down (19-17 losing). But then, we recovered our passing and won the set. The score was 2-0 (25-19 and 25-23).

This leave us with 5 won and 3 lost matches. Looking forward for the last two matches of the regular season!

Updates for New Year:

Whirlpool Team performed very well the last four matches:

two won against Bedminster VC and University of Bath and two lost against the last season's winner and the runner-up: City of Bristol VC and Cheddar VC.

The matches against Bedminster and Bath University were on the 2nd of December. We won both matches 2-0 and we played very well, taking advantage of our good pass, set and spike. The points were 25-19 and 25-15 against Bedminster VC and 25-12 and 26-24 against Bath University.

Following week, we played against City of Bsitol and Cheddar VC. City of Bristol shown why they are the leaders of the competition and defeated us in a close and interesting match when we gave everything to win. We had good pass, set and attack; but they had more experienced players on court and this was the difference in this match. They won 2-0 with scores of 18-25 and 21-25.
With Cheddar, we started leading the first set and doing a great job in defence, pass, set and attack. But after the fist set the differences of experience came up; we had problems in reception, serves and net touches that made us loose the game 1-2. These are the points we need to work on in order to perform better. Nevertheless, we want to congratulate both teams for their victories. Also, I have to say as a coach, that it was very good performance against the first and the second top teams in the table.

With this, we are 6th in the table, even having played 4 matches less!! We will continue fighting to be in the lead!

We played against Melksham Cougars and Bristol VC. The team won against Melksham Cougars 2-1 and lost against Bristol VC 1-2. The team played against very tough opponents. Good news for the firsts matches, good attitude on court and a lot of thinks to improve and work as a team. Positive thoughts from these matches and hoping that It will be a very good season for us!
