Calm as calligraphy.
It is great the energy and vibrance artists bring to the studios. There are so many ways to approach the making of art, sometimes there are flurries of creativity finding new glazes and ways of making and at other times it has moments of calm that let the imagination take you away, dreaming up possibilities or getting engrossed in the making and materials. Having a studio is a nice way to differentiate time and space.
It has been a pleasure to have Roger Owen ( ) have a studio for several years exploring design and form whilst being a great inspiration to many other artists. Roger's work seems to also reflect his calm and relaxed pace around the studios. Beautiful fishes that are captured with swift and natural brush strokes, illustrations that are both reminiscent of marine life and calligraphy, images that have a freedom with fresh and lively energy. It has been lovely to talk over the years about the endless joy of ceramics, painting, appreciation for the countryside and nature.
It is a pleasure to provide a space to an artist so sharing helpful and encouraging both to the studio and to other artists. Roger has a great deal of experience as an artist and has also been a teacher at the for many years.
We look forwards to seeing more of your art and a possible return to the studios after a summer dedicated to travel and painting.

New spaces, new beginnings.
The begining of a new year is a culmination of many things, a time to reflect and plan for the year ahead. It is a busy time.
It is great to keep track of all the amazing developments artists make often reaching the point where their creativity takes them on new paths onwards from the studios.
One of the best news we had at the end of 2021 was of the set up of a new public venture and art space.
Congratulations to Emily Gibbard & Hannah Jowett for creating !!
It takes tremendous work to run and manage a public art venue. The research and dedication to get to the stage where you are ready to offer your knowledge skills and facilities to others takes alot of preparation, determination and courage. Emily and Hannah have worked incredibly hard over the years practicing and honing their skills both in their own artistic practice and in working towards the newly set up .
It is a great joy to see artists move on to bigger things and is impressive when entire creative spaces grow out of inspired practices and a drive to push further.
We didnt manage to post about your successes at the time but we are so happy to cellebrate your achiement and wish you the very best moving into a new year.
Congratulations on your new making space and studio!
We wish you the very best with your onwards journey and look forwards to seeing all the creative ideas ahead.

Movements
The arts are often a grounding experience in the sense that they can help create a feeling of belonging.
A lovely aspect of the studios is seeing artists settle into their creative practice, sometimes having journeyed to arrive at a place within their life enabling creativity to take a roll and some who have travelled further afield from city or country.
An artist who has done just this is Lena Takamori, the themes of transition and travel also feature within her work. Lena manages to capture the feeling and moods of movement within the work she creates.
Since Lena’s move to Bristol and continuation of her dedication to her practice her development and investigation have further developed into building forms that explore the emotions and expressions of posture, the mood light and movement of weather, trees, rain and rolling mountains are also skilfully rendered through the scaled scenes and subtle colours used within her work. They are like a glimpse a snapshot of a passing moment or of a transient feeling.
A massive congratulations on your solo show in Massachusetts. We wish you the most fantastic experiences with your artistic journey's and have enjoyed seeing all the incredible work and ideas you have envisioned and created with enthusiasm whilst at the studios.
