*_They laughed when I said I wanted to be a comedian…. …well, they’re not laughing now!_*

*YES FOLKS, I’M DOING COMEDY FOR CHARITY!*

The event is on Sunday, 14th December, in Bristol. It starts at 3.00pm, and runs until it’s over (probably around 8pm, but who knows?!

Two ways you can contribute, please…

*FIRST – buy tickets*. It’s £25, for several hours of comedic revelry. A pretty cheap gig, all things considered, hosted by a professional and featuring a succession of trained and enthusiastic amateurs (including me!). Make sure you mention that you’re coming to see me (Joe Catcheside) on the booking form, as it’s all tracked and contributes towards the second point below.

*SECOND – Donate, please!* I’m raising money for some charities close to my heart; Alder Hey (for Hazel Prince), a diabetes charity (tbc which one) for Andrew Vickers, and Cancer Research because, hey, it matters. Chuck a few quid in, and make it worth my inflicting my contribution on the assembled multitudes.

BREAKING NEWS!!!!

SHARKS LAUNCH A BID TO REPLACE BRISTOL SONICS IN THE 2018 WEST OF ENGLAND POOL A

Devon Sharks have officially launched a bid with the RFL to replace Bristol Sonics, who earlier this week pulled out, in the 2018 West of England League. The Sharks were rejected early this year into their local league; the South West League, by representatives from each team and were looking for friendly fixtures to keep the senior team surviving.

We have had a successful year so far with the club becoming the first in the South West and
West of England to launch a Juniors setup and a Ladies Team.

We have requested to enter the league and follow the fixtures that were given to Bristol, and offer fresh, new competition to the league. We already have support of Gloucester All Golds, Somerset Vikings and Reading, who have written to the RFL confirming this and hope others will follow.

Director of Rugby Phil Johnson said, 'we have received tremendous support from the clubs in the West League and hope the RFL accept it. We have agreed to play the fixtures and dates that were already arranged for Bristol, and it makes perfect sense to let us fill the vacant position and promote the sport, rather than lose the momentum of the hard work we have put into the club, by having no league to play in'

Show your support for this and help us bring our case to the RFL.

UPDATE:

The letter has been sent to the RFL today
