May was yet another busy month packed full of community socials, events & opportunities to connect 💛

One of the things we love most about Swift is that it's about so much more than the time we spend training in the studio.

This month we moved, learned, laughed, celebrated, dipped, stomped, stretched & spent time together in all sorts of ways!

Here are just a few of May's highlights:
👉 A double dose of Yoga with the wonderful Stacey from Perfectly You Yoga with Stacey - a chance to slow down, recharge & take some well deserved time for ourselves 🧘‍♀️

👉 The return of the Swift Dippers! Cold water swims are back just in time for the super hot weather! 🌊

👉 Health & Wellbeing with Vikki Layton from Layton Counselling and Coaching exploring depression & opening up important conversations around mental health

👉 Celebrating the wonderful Kate’s birthday with a mini party featuring a very healthy amount of animal print! 🐆

👉 Coffee & Questions - because coffee & good conversation are always a winning combo ☕️

👉 Another fabulous Move & Groove with Emma from EF Dance 💃

👉 Swift Stomp - getting out into the fresh air & enjoying a walk & cake together 🚶‍♀️🌳

At Swift, we take a whole person approach to health & wellbeing.

Yes, we help people get stronger & fitter, but we also create opportunities for connection, support, learning & FUN.

Because health isn't just about exercise.

It's about community.

And this community is pretty darn special & totally unique! 💛

Erm... we kinda filled TWO PB boards this month! 🤯

Yes, TWO! 💪

One clearly wasn't enough to contain alllll the awesome stuff Team Swift has been up to in May! 🙃

Before we celebrate the many incredible lifts & proud moments on display... we need to talk about Tom.

Because whilst everyone else was busy chasing PBs, Tom was out here achieving greatness of a different kind…

🏆 Sat on his arse for a full 15 minutes. 🤣

FIFTEEN. MINUTES. STRAIGHT!

In all fairness he wasn’t supposed to be there, he randomly turned up mid session to say hi to team mates, but somehow managed to write this on the board without me noticing 🤣

Jokes aside, this is exactly why I love our PB board.

It’s not about showing off. It’s about celebrating progress, effort, consistency AND all those little wins that matter… like Laura being able to put the rig away after 5 years of trying! 😆

Every name up there represents someone who showed up, put the work in & achieved something they're proud of.

It's amazing to see some familiar faces continuing their quest for PB board domination 👀, but equally brilliant to see sooooo many new names making an appearance too!

The support our teams show one another is something special. The encouragement, the high fives, the cheering each other on... it all adds up & helps people achieve more than they ever thought possible.

I’m excited for another month of smashing goals, supporting teammates &, apparently, sitting down for extended periods of time. 😆

One of my favourite things about Swift is that people don’t feel like they have to arrive in a “perfect” headspace, or know exactly what they’re doing, or even feel confident walking through the door.

You can turn up tired, busy, distracted, in a great mood or a not so great one… & ALL are welcome. 🙂

There’s always laughter, a bit of friendly chaos, people helping each other out, & absolutely no pressure to get everything right.

…In fact, getting things a bit wrong is very much part of the experience!

The Swift studio is a space where people can switch off from the outside world for a while, feel supported, & just be themselves… & somehow still leave feeling stronger than when they arrived (even if they do ache like hell the next day!). 😆

And yes… we do also lift some very heavy things along the way! 💪💛

For those of you who don’t know, Hannah is one of the busiest people in Thornbury, if not the whole of South Glos… and so she has an admin assistant (Kingfisher Business Support !) to help lighten the load (in theory… in reality she just replaces the time she used to spend on admin with doing more Swift related stuff!)

Hannah is also terrible at posting about herself because it makes her feel incredibly awkward and icky… she’s great at bigging up other people, but totally s**t at bigging up herself!

So I decided to take over this post about Hannah by asking one of the Swift teams to sum up her up in just three words… which was wildly optimistic because of course they used elaborate sentences 😅

The answers included:
Passionate
Altruistic
Magical
Kind
Hard working
Warm-hearted
Energetic
Incredibly smart (yes, technically two words, but apparently “smart” alone wasn’t enough!)

But after gathering all the evidence, one word stood out more than any other: supportive. 💛

(Although “bonkers” definitely deserves a special mention too!) 😄

So if you’ve ever wondered what makes Swift feel so different from other small group PT environments… it’s Hannah.
👉 It’s how much she cares
👉 It's how much she gives to every member
👉 AND how she makes people feel supported from day one. ✨

As with all things Swift, from enquiry through to full team member, everything is human & everything is personal.

…Even though they can be cute, we don’t do robots! 🤖

With all the amazing humans joining our community recently it’s been a little full on!

But I still wouldn’t swap a robot for human connection. 🙂

Trust me, I spend A LOT of time communicating & figuring out who fits best where, looking at class availability, group dynamics, & making sure everyone ends up in the right sessions with people they can really gel with.

📲When you make contact & enquire, there’s no AI reply - it’s real life me responding to your messages, DMs, emails etc.

🌐There’s no automated ‘sign up here’ button on a website - it’s me, finding out your individual needs & guiding you through the journey to make sure it’s right for you.

💡When you share your specific goals & health concerns - it’s me listening & figuring out how best to support you.

🧑‍🤝‍🧑When you share your availability - it’s me working out what individual team will be best suited to you & set to become your personal cheerleaders.

🤸When you show up there’s no “here’s the kit, good luck. Byeeeee” - yep, it’s still me planning sessions specifically for YOU & making sure you have a great coach with you to guide & support you through each session.

🙂After your session, (you’ve guessed it…) it’s me, not an auto robot checking in to make sure you’re feeling comfortable & happy.

I know I bang on about it, but we really are not a big corporate gym with auto everything.

We’re a small business, & a real community!

And that’s why people don’t just sign up, come for a few months & then give up.
They stay because they MATTER.

She arrived at her first ever session with all the newbie nerves. A mixture of excitement, overthinking everything, & carrying that fear so many people feel when walking into a new environment.

Meeting new people can feel overwhelming.

Starting something new can feel intimidating.

But she didn’t need to worry…

Our community understands those feelings because so many of us have been there too. That’s why we do our best to make every person who walks through the door feel welcome, supported, & like they belong in our shared space… because they do!

WE GET IT!

She left feeling calmer, smiling, loving the session, & excited to come back.

Whoop whoop!

Because at Swift, you don’t just train...you BELONG! 💛

Gym chat at Swift is genuinely a dangerous place sometimes 🤪

Today’s offender…
“Someone’s got a big one.” 👀

Before anyone gets carried away… we were talking about dumbbells 🙃

A perfectly normal coaching comment that was immediately met with the kind of laughter that tells you everyone’s brain has gone straight into the gutter… again! 😂

Half the challenge of coaching is surviving the accidental innuendos & the other half is pretending we’re mature enough to ignore them.

We are not. 🤣
