I've been running this group for seven years. And right now, it feels more important than ever.
Black and brown people are being disappeared in the US. Similar things are happening here in the UK. This isn't abstract to me.
I've lived with someone who was traumatised by racism for decades, so I've seen up close what it does — to the mind, to the body, to a whole life. Racism isn't just an event. It's a system, like patriarchy. It oppresses. It doesn't let people rise to who they actually are.
And that's the part that gets me: so many people benefiting from that system still don't see it. So many white people freeze. They look away. Not because they don't care, but because looking at it is uncomfortable, and discomfort makes us shut down. When we’re shut down, we can’t lean in and find ways to change it.
That's exactly why this group exists the way it does. It's not just about understanding racism intellectually. It's about learning to stay in your body, stay present, stay in relationship, even when shame or fear show up. Because insight without regulation doesn't change anything. It just becomes more silence.
Six months. Once a month as a full group, with peer meetings in between. Twelve people, going deep together.
This work is uncomfortable. It's also, I promise you, transformational.
