Ever experienced back pain? Yes, there are lots of us that do, including me....
Whenever we need to recover from back pain, or a back injury, we always need to improve stability and strength within the pelvis. Any instability or weakness is likely to be the cause of the pain/injury too.
Pilates is so important because it emphasises building strength from 'neutral pelvis' - the best position for generating force (to move your legs, or to lift something). It is excellent for injury rehabilitation and prevention. And I've done a specialised course in this too. (Pilates for injuries & pathologies by Sam Wood, BASI).
Working with a teacher gives you support in learning about neutral pelvis, and shows you the most effective ways to utilize it. Exercises need to be done right, and mindfully, in order to be truly effective.

What is my approach to teaching.
I use the BASI method. It is internationally recognised for it's block system - the teacher is sure to cover all the necessary points of the class, yet have the flexibility to be creative in the way the class flows.
This keeps classes feeling new and fresh, yet still with the sense of familiarity so that students can remain confident in knowing what they are doing.
Online clients often tell me that my instructions are very clear; that I use great explainations to help them understand; and that they love the variety and spontaneity of my class structure.

For the past 2 and half years I have been teaching private lessons and group classes online.
Private lessons work best for those that want extra guidance - if they are new to Pilates or are working with something specific (such as an injury, pathology or are ante/post-natal).
Sometimes I base myself in one place, working with local studios (wherever I happen to be) or at holiday resorts (so far in Greece).
Over the years I have helped many online followers:
⭐Reduce aches and pains
⭐Release stiffness
⭐Improve stamina
⭐Feel more energised
⭐Feel more calm
⭐Maintain and improve their balance, to avoid trips/falls (and keep out of hospital...)
⭐Bring awareness to the value of their feet and improve their quality of walking
⭐To understand more about their body and feel more in control of their health
Do any of my lovely followers out there have something else to add; another way in which I have helped you? 😇

Looking forward to seeing my clients in-person this month after so much time spent on Zoom. We are all from Thornbury & surrounding areas.
These mixed ability classes are great for improving technique, trying something new, meeting new people and most importantly getting that FEEL-GOOD feeling after an hour of mindful exercise.
