“Healing is never as neat and tidy as we’d like it to be. It’s not a checklist. It’s not linear. It’s a combination of both progress and regress. And it’s a daily choice to keep showing up.”

Book recommendation:

Accessing the healing power of the Vagus Nerve: Self-help exercises for anxiety, depression, trauma and autism
by Stanley Rosenberg

Stanley Rosenberg explores the crucial role that the vagus nerve plays in determining our psychological and emotional states and explains that a myriad of common psychological and physical symptoms indicates a lack of proper functioning in the vagus nerve.

Through a series of self-help exercises, the book illustrates the simple ways we can regulate the vagus nerve in order to initiate deep relaxation, improve sleep and recover from injury or trauma.

This practical guide to understanding the cranial nerves as the key to our psychological and physical well-being builds on Stephen Porges’s Polyvagal Theory – one of the most important recent developments in human neurobiology.

I recently wrote a blog about all the lessons I have learnt from the horses in my life. One of my favourites is this one which was taught to me by my beloved Bramble who some of you will have met and worked with in coaching sessions and workshops.

Sometimes the best relationships are the ones where you can be together while doing separate things and there’s a quiet joy in being so comfortable with someone that you don’t need to be really close to them all the time.

Sadly Bramble is no longer with us but she was so clear with her boundaries and helped me become clearer with my own.

If you would like to read the blog in full which includes some of my other favourite lessons from the horses I have loved you can do so here https://rosiewithey.co.uk/the-benefit-of-hindsight-lessons-from-the-horses-i-have-known-and-loved/
