Hey Friends of Withywood Park BS13, Withywood and Hartcliffe Residents and community,
โ ๏ธHuntingham / Paybridge Road is impassableโ ๏ธ
โ ๏ธHuntingham /Paybridge Road is closed with two cars partially submerged already tonight (Friday 15th November) the water is at least 3-4 feet deep in the middle (easily waist deep for most adults) and unless youโre wearing waders I wouldn't recommend trying to walk across it either!โ ๏ธ
Drivers can still get around the park using Riverland Drive and Keeble Avenue.
Walkers comming from the the Northern Section of Withywood Park (containing the kids play park, MUGA and Skate Park) can exit the park at the Keble Avenue gate and will have to go up and around Four Acres.
Walkers comming from the Southern Section of Withywood Park (which goes behind and round the Four Acres Shop and Belgrave School) can currently just about get out the Paybridge exit right next to the housing, if we get more rain or the flooding gets even worse, you could/ would need to use the ally way exit going behind these houses comming out onto Paybridge Road slightly further along and could enter the Northern Section of Withywood Park from Three Wells Road Entrance.
Stay Safe everyone.
Kind Regards
The Friends of Withywood Park (BS13)

Evening Friends of Withywood Park, BS13 Hedgehog Project followers, Residents of Hartcliffe and Withywood and the local community,
๐งโโ๏ธ๐งโโ๏ธ๐งโโ๏ธ๐ป๐ Happy Halloween and Fright Night! ๐ฝ๐คก๐ฆธโโ๏ธ๐งโโ๏ธ๐ง
I hope you and the kids had an amazing night dressing up, decorating your house/ windows and gardens as well ๐ฌ๐ซtrickle treating ๐ญ and embracing the spooky, Samhain, and Day of the Dead Spirit.
I want to talk to you about your lovely, creative, spooky and frightful carved Pumpkins and Pumpkin Latterns. That add so much to the Halloween evening.
Sadly a lot of pumpkins are irresponsibly discarded and dumped in Green and Blue Spaces, Parks, and Nature rich spaces within the community after Halloween without any thought for or thinking it will benifit wildlife sadly for most UK wildlife this isnt the case.
Pumpkin isn't a native natural food source for any UK wildlife and whilst a few table spoons can be useful to small few speacies of native UK wildlife to a lot of wildlife particulary Hedgehogs it's actually a strong laxative and has the effect on them causing diarrhea and vomiting at a time they have just likely had a potentially second brood of hoglets, and all are trying to find the last possible morsels of food whilst preparing to hibernate over winter.
๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฟ๐๐ฐ๐ฆ๐ฆโโฌ๐ฆ๐ฆก๐พ
Sadly this dihorea and vomiting can cause severe dehydration, malnutrition, and even starvation leading to the death of many hedgehogs particualry small young hedgehogs/ hoglets born this year. ๐ฆโ ๏ธ๐๐คข๐คฎ๐ฉ๐
So please either use your Pumpkin ๐ remains to make something beautiful in the kitchen like a autumnal spiced Pumpkin soup, Pumpkin Pie for thoose of you with a sweeter tooth, put it in your food bins or donate your Pumpkin remains for composting securely out of reach of Hedgehogs at either Hartcliffe City Farm at the Haybale Cafe or at the Heart of BS13 Roundhouse entrances in the signed pumpkin donation bins/ baskets on Crosscombe Drive and or Belgrave Crescent. ๐
Let's protect our local Hedgehog population, and the beautiful local wildlife and feed our compost piles instead.
Kind Regards
Luke and the BS13 Hedgehog Project and thank you for the collaboration with Heart of BS13, Heart of BS13 Flower Farn and Hartcliffe City Farm for protecting Hedgehogs and local Wildlife.
