𝗟𝗶𝗳𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽! 🏋🏼♀️
As you may already know Carly and I are running a lifting workshop throughout February to help anyone learn how to or improve their squats and deadlifts!
We are super excited about bringing this workshop to life as we have both spent years as personal trainers watching people avoid the weight area due to not knowing what to do or feeling intimidated, people injuring themselves or trying to progress but can’t quite figure out what they are doing wrong.
Details:
- 𝙎𝙦𝙪𝙖𝙩 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙥: Tuesdays at 5:45-6:45pm (throughout Feb) £80 for the whole workshop
- 𝘿𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙡𝙞𝙛𝙩 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙥: Tuesdays at 7-8pm (throughout Feb) £80 for the whole workshop
𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Studio Base, Hengrove (has parking right outside)
If you have any questions or want more info please don’t hesitate to comment or DM 😊
PS: please do not mention the fact I had to stand on a plate to be able to match Carly’s height 😅

Hey! I will be attempting to run 60km for to help raise awareness and donations towards men’s health. The reason it is 60km is because we lose 60 men an hour to su***de across the world. This is quite a hard task (especially as I am starting a week late and don’t run long distances 😅). So please help me by donating below to spur me on 👊🏼
Eliza Kelsey's Mo Space
Eliza's Motivation: I'm raising funds and awareness this Movember for all the dads, brothers, sons and mates in our lives. I need your help. Please donate to support men's health.

Why it’s not selfish to put yourself first
After sharing some thoughts and reflections of this week I though this deserved to be put in a post to act as a reminder for myself and anyone else who needs it. I will say it again IT IS NOT SELFISH TO PUT YOURSELF FIRST!!
And this is why: how are you going to help others if you are not in a place to do so?Looking after others is definitely not a selfish thing but to do it requires you to be in a place where you can offer that help.
Like the analogy of the mask on plain (fix your own before you help others). If you are not looking after yourself then the amount of help you can give others is not optimal.
So how do we prioritise ourselves? Well here are some things I try to implement into my life to help, so hopefully they can help you too:
✅ Prioritise sleep (7/8 hours)
✅ Eat vegetables everyday
✅ Talk to people, tell them what is bothering you. I hate the feeling of bottling something up, it is so much easier to process once it is out there in the world
✅ Move your body
✅ Set goals (they can be big or small but stuff to look forward to, to give you purpose)
✅ Similar to the goals, but set tasks (like chores) that when completing gives you a sense of reward
✅ Drink enough water
✅ Go outside (something about being in nature helps boost my happiness so much! Although maybe not when it is raining…)
Please add to the list if you have any others 😊 it’s a new week tomorrow so let’s start putting ourselves first!

Control it!
Ok ok so I am sure every PT you follow is saying the same thing right now but it is because it’s important!
With gyms reopening Monday it is easy to feel like getting in there and absolutely smashing a 2 hour session, planning to go 6 times a week as we haven’t been able to go for so long. I can completely sympathise with this feeling but it is soooo important to control yourself. To come back in a smart way, ease your body back into it. No one wants to get injured and have to spend more time away! So please look after yourselves. Exercising puts stress on your body, which is great!, but you need to think about your RECOVERY. Prioritise your sleep and nutritious foods.
So in essence: Fuel your body, get back to the basics, ease into it, sleep well and enjoy it without any injuries! 🙌🏼
Can’t wait to see all the team and members again 👊🏼

“Comparison is the thief of Joy” – Theodore Roosevelt
After having lots of interesting conversations about using filters and how they may be affecting us, I realised that the main issue is ‘comparison’.
It is so easy to compare yourself to others, especially in this day and age when we are bombarded by a million photos on Instagram everyday. On top of this, a lot of the photos have been edited/airbrushed/photoshopped which means we are now comparing ourselves to an image that might not even be real!
The way I try to tackle it is to admire others, be happy for others, be proud of my friends but learn that what they have or don’t have, the way they look or don’t look has no effect on my self-worth, on who I am. That way I can fully support my friends or others on social media, without the jealousy, competitiveness or comparison that leads to feeling down about ourselves. I know this is easier said than done but it can be practiced. We are all unique!
However, we also compare ourselves to ourselves! Maybe to the person we were, to the size we were. I do this with filters, I compare my face to the filtered version of it. Before doing it I have no issues with the way I look (or at least just the normal amount, obvs we all have bad days 😅) but after seeing a filtered version of my face where I look tanned, whiter teeth, smooth skin, no spots, as soon as I go back to my normal face I feel inadequate. I notice so many things I didn’t before! So I am going to try to make a conscious effort to be kinder to myself and to avoid the self-comparison by not using filters as much.
I have really enjoyed the discussions today. If you have any thoughts on the topic please do comment or DM me 😊
