Yes!!! They did it!! I am so proud of these wonderful people. They have gone through so much this weekend and today they all wake up as black belts ( Sensei Maria is waking up as a 2nd Dan!!). I honestly can’t express just how delighted I am, I know just how hard it is to get a black belt. Today they are going to wake up aching and sore but that will dissipate and no one can ever take away the fact that they are blacks belts. Having pushed themselves so hard. Dedicated years to training. It’s simply wonderful.
I’m really proud of my son. Here he is working a combination on the kick shield. I think he is an absolutely fantastic martial artist. He has grown up with Red Dragons and is just getting better and better. One thing that I should mention is that he is an amputee. He wears a prosthetic leg. It’s his left leg. He never ever lets this get in the way. He is currently a brown belt 2nd Kyu and will take his third brown next year and possibly his black. His attitude is incredible and I am extremely proud.
So much FUN in the dojo this week. Lots and lots of focused practice on the upcoming grading but we also played Rock, Paper and Scissors in a different way.
