“Suffering is like compost.
Compost is made of rotten vegetables.
People either chuck it away — or use it to make the field grow.” - Rimpoche

Captivity through my very eyes

Yoga is not what you practice on the mat, it is not trikonasana. It is not inversions. It is not how flexibility and definitely not how “zen” you naturally are.

Asana (yoga postures) is the third limb of yoga, a very small part of what we know yoga to be.

The first two limbs come intentionally before them.
First, Yama’s; how you are with others
Second, Niyama’s; how you with and towards yourself through truthfulness, non-harm, discipline, contentment (santosha)and Bhakti (devotion)

So when we say we’re doing yoga, are we just stretching or are we actually living it.

What does yoga mean to you?

Santosha
One of the Niyamas in the Yoga Sutras, a guide to contentment.

Not the kind of contentment that comes from ticking everything off a to do list
It’s the kind of contentment that comes up when you stop resisting and settle into what is.

In yoga, Santosha asks us to soften our grip on striving
To practice being at ease in the present
To stop waiting for the next thing to make us whole

And when I travel, I find it everywhere
I think maybe it’s my Earth signs rooting me in a place 😬

But something shifts when I’m somewhere new and I find peace
