Well another bowls season comes to a close and yesterday we held our final roll up and annual fish & chip supper to mark the closing of the Green. A very good attendance and played in glorious autumn sunshine as well as raising some funds for our Captains’ charity. Roll on April 2026!

Due to the adverse weather conditions our planned game with Topsham Bowls Club had to be cancelled. Arrangements were quickly made to enable us to play indoors at the ISCA indoor bowls club near Exeter. It turned out that the club was also the base for the South Africa Ladies Rugby Union squad who undertook a gym session whilst we were playing. The squad kindly agreed to pose with us following their training session, which we were all delighted with. We wish them luck for their forthcoming quarterfinal World Cup match with New Zealand on Saturday.
After the glorious sunshine yesterday today’s planned finals delayed until 5pm

Yesterday the Club had the pleasure of hosting a Somerset Ladies County match against Pen-Y-Glyn from the Brecon Beacons. A torrential downpour leading up to the game meant a slightly later than programmed start to allow the Green to recover. A full game of 18 ends followed with the visitors coming out on top. The match was followed by an enjoyable meal and a time to exchange some social banter. A big thank you to all those members of the Club who helped make the day such a success in trying conditions.

Last night we had the pleasure of hosting a number of Explorer Scouts from the Keynsham 1st Group, to let them experience the challenges of lawn bowls. The evening was supported by the Club’s coaches and players. Hopefully the Scouts attending found it a rewarding experience and we look forward to hosting them again on 11th July.
