Yesterday was one of those days that makes all the hard work worthwhile.
We returned to Lostock Hall Primary School in Preston Lancashire six months after our first visit and the difference was amazing.
When we first arrived, many of the children couldn’t skip. Yesterday, we saw over 500 children confidently taking part in the Skip2Bfit Challenge. The skill levels, confidence and enthusiasm on display were fantastic.
A massive thank you to Mr Law and Mr Jardine. They got behind the challenge from day one and have kept it going. That’s the key. We can introduce Skip2Bfit, provide the resources and inspire the children, but it’s the schools that make it happen. When a school fully commits to it, the impact can be incredible.
It was great to see the displays around the school, hear the music playing outside at break times and listen to teachers talking about the difference it has made. Time and time again we heard comments about increased activity levels, improved behaviour at playtimes and children being more engaged.
We also invited parents in to join a sponsored Skip2Bfit 2min challenge and raised £1,000s for the school on the day . We had some top skippers on show and the atmosphere throughout the day was fantastic. Everyone enjoyed our sponsor’s Winterwood Farms Ltd blueberries too.
The thing that stood out most was the pride the children had in their skipping. Six months ago many of them couldn’t skip at all. Now they have a skill for life.
Thank you to everyone at Lostock Hall Primary School for believing in the challenge and making it part of school life.
This is what school enrichment should look like. Children active, engaged, improving and enjoying themselves.
If every school did the Skip2Bfit challenge and gave children this opportunity, imagine the difference we could make!👀🙏❤️
