Good morning!
Just a quick reminder that there are NO CLASSES DURING THE NEXT WEEK.
I’m going off to France for a few days to sizzle! 🥵
Think it will be early morning practices, yoga in the pool and lots of cooling breaths for me!
Classes resume on Thursday 25th June.
Bookings are also now open for my next Sunday Worksop on 5th July at Burcot Village Hall. 10am-12pm, £18 per space.
Have a great few days xx

Only a couple of opportunities to catch a class this week, before I’m off for a short break.
Drop ins are welcome at both classes:
Monday 15th- Burcot Village Hall 1-2.30pm
Tuesday 16th The Pilates Gym 2-3pm
We are continuing our explorations around how we can do less…
Can we differentiate between effort and rest, and can we use that to help us become more aware of when we are over efforting and holding on to tension in muscles that would be much happier having a little break.
90 min drop in- £14
60 min drop in- £12
All my 1:1’s this week will be wrapped up by Wednesday afternoon. Then I’m off to France!
Classes resume on Thursday 25th June, and run until the end of summer term.
À toute à l'heure!

Woke up with fairly intense pain today, on a day when I’m teaching three times.
The natural reaction or solution? Reach for painkillers. But with a practice and deep interest in nervous system regulation, it makes me pause.
Painkillers dull our interoception—our ability to feel internal sensations.
For me, this is doubly tricky. Being hypermobile means my brain already gets limited neurological feedback from my affected joints and connective tissues.
To practice safely, I already have a strict rule: never go past 70% of my mobility range.
If I mask what little feedback I have with medication, I lose my body’s natural boundaries. I risk pushing past a safe threshold instead of letting my muscles naturally yield and release.
So, how am I teaching today while honoring my nervous system?
🔴Cap at 70%: Staying strictly inside my safe mobility zone.
🔴Lean into gravity: Letting the ground do the heavy lifting.
🔴Authenticity: Showing up exactly as I am—cramps and all.
Interestingly, nearly every time I practice when I’m in pain or dealing with an injury, I find my practice reveals something new, I find a new way to negotiate a shape that’s tricky for my body, or I simply end the practice feeling much lighter. 🤔
Let’s meet ourselves exactly where we are on the mat today.
No forcing, just listening. 🌿
See you in class! 🧘♀️
Ps pic is is some lovely fresh turmeric, which I will steep and drink today for its wonderful inflammatory properties

I love it when science confirms what lived experience already knows… I can’t even say my practice was a support during my recovery, it was, and is, my recovery! ❤️🩹
And this week sees the second half of my now 12 week course with Ladies Fighting Breast Cancer.💕
A new course intake will begin in August or September… book your space, or please share with anyone who might benefit from joining us.🙏
Here’s a quote from the article, you can read the whole piece in the link. ⬇️⬇️
Up to 95% of cancer survivors experience sleep disturbances or insomnia at some point during or after their treatment, and more than half experience mood disturbances, anxiety or fatigue.
Now the first clinical trial of its kind has shown that regular gentle hatha and restorative yoga can help improve those side-effects, without the need for medication. The results were presented in Chicago at the world’s largest cancer conference.
Yoga can reduce anxiety and insomnia for people living with cancer, study finds
First clinical trial of its kind, involving 410 cancer survivors in US, also finds reductions in distress and fatigue

Lately I've been reflecting on the conversations I have after class. Almost every session, someone stays behind for a chat.
We talk about how the practice felt, anxiety, nervous system regulation, neurodivergence, family struggles, work stress, grief, joy—whatever is present that day.
There’s sometimes sharing about life during and post cancer treatment- both the physical and mental long term effects that people are living with. Oh, and peri / menopause- there’s lots of that! 🥵
Sometimes people cry. Sometimes they need to let go of frustrations. Sometimes they just need five minutes with someone who will listen.
It's made me realise that while yoga brings people onto the mat, it's often the human connection that keeps us coming back.
In a world where so many of us feel rushed, isolated, or overwhelmed, these small moments of genuine connection really matter.
If you've ever stayed behind for a chat, thank you for trusting me with that.
And if you ever need a listening ear, please know you're always welcome. 🙏

Another beautiful Sunday morning workshop.
We explored balance, by noticing support and effort. Releasing tension, finding space, coming home to our bodies.
Next workshop is Sunday 5th July, open for booking.

A few quiet minutes with a brew and my lesson plan before my workshop this morning.
The flowers for the centre of our practice space came from my garden today. Not quite arranged with the flair of my neighbour, but passable!
