We hope all our families have had a lovely summer break and that our girls, their siblings and friends look forward to returning to/joining 1st Armadale Girls’ Brigade. The adult team have been busy over the summer break planning new fun programmes and ‘Gracie Bee’ themed activities. Please note that due to unforeseen hall availability on our original proposed enrolment date (3 September) that our enrolment evening has had to be delayed by one week and will now be held on Tuesday 10 September. Please come along to Armadale Parish Church Hall anytime between 6.30 pm-8.00 pm to complete new session paperwork - this applies to existing and new girl members to ensure place as we may have to limit P1-7 places until we secure further regular adult help. Further information on attachment herewith. We look forward to see you all soon🐝
It is with great sadness that I have to let everyone know that at parents night on Wednesday 22nd May 1st Broxburn GB was put into abeyance for at least 10 years.
Not all parents were at parents night and I know some other parents who may still see this page had mentioned about their girls coming back after the summer so I thought it best to update everyone on the current situation.
The company being put into abeyance was as a result of matters arising outwith the company, it was nothing to do with the girls who had been coming along or the officers remaining in the company.
I am sure the decision was not taking lightly and it was certainly a shock to both the officers and parents who were only advised that this would be happening on parents night.
This update is really to let everyone know what is happening, we are not looking to blame or accuse anyone. It is sad that after almost 100 years this has happened to the company and even sadder to have seen the girls so upset when they were told by their parents that they wouldn't be able to come back after the Summer.
There was a statement released by Girls' Brigade Scotland which was read out at parents night and I have been advised that for anyone who was not there and would like to hear it they should contact the Minister or Deputy Session Clerk of Broxburn Parish Church and they will be able to read it to you if you wish.
I am sure I speak for all the officers who have ever been involved in the company by thanking all the girls and parents who have been part of the journey of 1st Broxburn.
Maybe in years to come the company will be able to restart to give more girls the fun, fellowship and faith which we have always tried to bring to them through the company.
I will keep the page open till after the Summer holidays so that I can post details of when other GB companies are starting back, the girls will be more than welcome at any other company if you wish them to continue in Girls Brigade.

This Wednesday is our annual parents where the girls will be presented with their badges - can all girls meet in the wee hall as normal at 6.45pm in uniform.
Everyone is welcome to stay and enjoy the evening, the girls have been practising their sing for you, so it would be good to see as many as possible join us on Wednesday.
There will be tea and coffee afterwards.
Please note tomorrow evening all girls should be collected from the church, not the church hall like you normal do. They can be dropped off in the normal small hall.
Just a little date for your diary, this year parents night will be on 22nd May in the church from 7-8pm with tea in the hall afterwards - everyone is welcome to come along and join with the girls for our end of session night!
Just a little reminder we start back tonight at normal time of 7pm after our Easter holiday - see everyone later 😁

Since it’s our last night before the Easter holidays we had great fun making Easter crafts - chocolate nests, Creme egg chickens and Easter baskets and chickens, all great fun and who doesn’t like chocolate!!
