Bude Town 2 Wendron 1

+3 for the Seasiders this afternoon against a very hardworking and young visiting Wendron side who pushed us all the way.

Bude started confidently and were playing some really attractive football and controlling play. A great move down the right and a flashed cross from Piran was too hot for Dylan to nod in at the near post and Jake Woodland was unlucky as a ball fell to him unexpectedly and was smothered by the keeper. A few half chances came and went and Wendron looked capable of grabbing a goal on the counter - however we went in 0-0 at the break.

We started fast in the second half, some neat build up play around the penalty area with Billy scooping a nice ball over the defence for Jake to smash home with his left foot from close range for 1-0. We then won a penalty as Dylan was felled in the box and the resulting spot kick from Harry Hopcroft was superbly saved by the keeper down to his left corner.

Bude made it 2-0 with another well worked move - Harry Hopcroft picking the ball up outside the box and hitting a low drive to the left corner which was parried out by the keeper to Billy who smashed home from close range.

Wendron were still playing good football and grabbed a goal back but Bude held on to get the valuable maximum points. That’s now 13 points from the last 5 games, Bude are quietly going about their business and playing some really good stuff with players working hard for the badge.

Special mentions to Fin Haste and Jake Woodland who both put in strong performances this afternoon.

Next Saturday we are on the road with a trip to St Mawgan.

COMING UP!

This Saturday the 1st team are back in league action after the weekend off as we face Wendron at Broadclose Park with a 3pm kick off.

With 3 wins and a draw in the last 4 games, confidence is high as we look towards putting on another strong showing but Wendron are always a strong side to play against, we will need to be at it.

The 2's are on the road this weekend against Calstock, this one is a 2.30pm kick off. Calstock are always a hard-working side, this will be a good test.

Bude Town Res vs Gorran - MATCH CANCELLED.

Unfortunately tomorrows game has been called off as Gorran cannot raise a team so the lads are through to the next round of the Cornwall Junior Cup.

With the 1st team not having a fixture either, the men have a weekend off from football.

We do have plenty of youth games happening though and they would always love your support - check out Bude Town FC Youth for details of matches.

The 2's are in Junior Cup action at home on Saturday against Gorran.

Gorran play in the St Piran League 2 East and are currently sitting in 2nd place.

Jake and his lads will be looking for your support as his men look to bounce-back from their defeat last time out against Lanreath.

Our first team manager Steve Hackett is going to be doing the “3 Peaks Challenge” in two weeks time. 3 mountains to climb in 24 hours. Will he be able to do it? The jury is out!
