🏊‍♀️🏊‍♂️ What an afternoon at the County Relays! 💙💛

A great afternoon had by all, with some fantastic racing, medals coming home with AST, brilliant teamwork and plenty of support for each other throughout! 🏅👏

And apparently swimming wasn’t enough… we even managed to fit in a bit of gymnastics during the break! 😂🤸

A huge thank you to Tom and Ollie for coaching throughout the day, Verity & Nicola for team managing and keeping everything running smoothly, and Stevie for all the work she put in behind the scenes to help get everyone there and organised. 💙

And a massive shout out to Somerset ASA for putting on another fantastic event. 👏

Most importantly, well done to all of our swimmers. You raced hard, supported your teammates and represented AST brilliantly. We hope you all had as much fun as we did!

Later today, 20 more AST swimmers will be joining us for the relays, which means we’re in for a fun, exciting and probably VERY loud afternoon of racing! 😂📣

🏊 Early Morning Training at Millfield! 🏊

A lovely early morning swim at Millfield today, with some important preparation underway for the upcoming Somerset County Relays! 💪🏊‍♀️🏊‍♂️

Great to share the pool with our friends from Burnham-On-Sea Swimming Club too in lanes 1–4. Always nice to see both clubs training alongside each other!

Well done to everyone who made the early start — a brilliant session and some great work ahead of the relays! 👏

🏆🇪🇺 WHAT A EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS FOR MICA! 🇪🇺🏆

The European Masters Championships have now come to an end, and we couldn’t be prouder of AST Masters swimmer Mica, who returns with the complete set of European medals! 🥇🥈🥉

Across a fantastic championships, Mica achieved:

🥇 GOLD – 50m Backstroke — European Champion!
🥈 SILVER – 200m Backstroke
🥉 BRONZE – 100m Backstroke
🔥 4th – 800m Freestyle

Gold, silver, bronze and a 4th-place finish at a European Championships — what an incredible achievement!

It has been brilliant following Mica’s updates throughout the competition, from becoming European Champion in the 50m Backstroke to completing the full medal set with bronze in the 100m Backstroke yesterday.

We are incredibly proud to have Mica as part of our thriving AST Masters squad and to see one of our swimmers competing and achieving at this level on the European stage. 💙

A huge congratulations from everyone at Academy Swim Team. We hope you enjoy a very well-earned rest before we see you back at training next week — although we're expecting the medals to make an appearance! 😉🏊‍♀️

💙 Thank you, Nic 💙

Yesterday marked Nic’s final day as Head Coach of Academy Swim Team, and while we know she didn’t want a big fuss, we couldn’t let the moment pass without saying a heartfelt thank you.

Nic has been part of AST for an incredible 13 years, helping, supporting and coaching hundreds of children along the way. From countless training sessions and early mornings to galas, open meets, club events and plenty of fun in between, she has given an enormous amount to our club and its swimmers.

Throughout those years, Nic’s dedication, kindness and incredible work ethic have always shone through. The time and energy she has given to AST, all while juggling a full-time job, is something we are hugely grateful for.

Two years ago, Nic stepped into the role of Head Coach and has since helped guide the club through another important chapter. During that time, she oversaw the introduction of our Junior Squad, welcoming many new swimmers and their families into AST and helping them take their first steps within the club.

Thirteen years is a huge part of AST's story, and Nic should be incredibly proud of the difference she has made to so many swimmers and families during that time.

Nic will always be part of the AST family, and while we're respecting her wish to slip away without too much fuss, we hope she knows just how appreciated she is.

Our door will always be open, Nic, and we'd be more than thrilled to see you back again one day soon! 💙

🌊🏊 Coach Ollie takes on St Michael’s Mount!

Coach Ollie has been putting his new AST hat to good use today while on holiday in Cornwall! 😎

Not content with just admiring the view, he took to the water and completed an impressive 2.5km swim around St Michael’s Mount! 💪🌊

A brilliant swim in an incredible location — although we’re hoping the Cornish sea wasn’t too cold for him! 🥶😂

Well done, Ollie! 👏🏊‍♂️

🏆🇪🇺 EUROPEAN CHAMPION! 🇪🇺🏆

What an incredible update from AST Masters swimmer Mica, currently competing at the European Championships! 🏊‍♀️

🥇 GOLD – 50m Backstroke
🔥 4th – 800m Freestyle

Winning a European title is a fantastic achievement, and to add a 4th-place finish in the 800m Freestyle makes it an amazing championships so far.

We’re incredibly proud to see Mica on the European stage — and becoming a European Champion! 🏆
