Race report R7 Oulton Park

Track day on the Thursday didn’t go according to plan having only been to Oulton Park once last year, this was well needed time learning the circuit and getting a base setting in on the bike .
Bike decided not to play, then we got round it and sorted it out. We only managed about 12 laps in the afternoon. Thanks to Lee Jenkins & Kyle Jenkins for helping me sort.

Friday Test day was good. Managed to get down to a 1.59 lap time, even with a busy track. Qualifying didn’t go according to plan as I struggled with my fitness. The bike wasn’t still hundred percent either, but I still done my best.

Race 1
Starting in p32 we had some work to do we had a good start! Made some places early on managed to break away and get a tour around from some faster lads, I felt really comfortable on the bike and we managed to finish p17 in class and doing a new PB 1.56

Race 2
Started on the grid in P26.
Again, had a good start, but on the first lap of the race, we got a red flag. Hope all riders involved were okay. I noticed my throttle wasn’t right, so instantly knew we had an issue. We then were given a restart and in the first lap I knew it wasn’t a good idea to carry on so I pulled in and got a DNF. Gutted, but that’s just racing sometimes.

We are slowly getting trust with the bike and learning how to be quicker and smoother.

Big thanks to everyone that helped that weekend

Race report R4 croft

Test day on the Friday went okay never been to Croft so it was a case of learning my way around the track and trying to get the bike and the gearing set up ready for the weekend. As I progressed I started to feel like I knew where I was going, moving my brake markers further to the corners. Happy with our progress we went into qualifying Saturday morning.

Qualifying Saturday
Just before we went out there was a red flag so was cautious with the tyres going cool, went out first. It felt good second lap coming down the start finish went to start to break and the brake lever came all the way back to the bar . Not a good feeling going to turn one. I managed to get the bike through the box to slow in enough time and then pulled in at the next available Marshall post. Watching the lads qualifying was frustrating but seeing Lewis Adams flying on the grass as he came in too hot for the flip-flop turn 5. We qualify 18th in class 34th for Race.

Race 1
Race one felt comfortable, lined up for the start had a good start off the line but didn’t really progress through the race. Our lap times pretty much stayed the same which put us in the same position for the next race. I felt a bit hesitant into some corners and also it was still slightly off. Feeling frustrated with myself, I had a word with the lads for some advice.
We decided to change the gearing put some new tyres on and go out for emergency practice on Sunday morning. Emergency Practice went really well and the gearing change we made were spot on a lot more drive on the exit of corners.

Race 2
Race two had a really good start , trying to keep with a pack early on to try and keep pace with the quicker lads found myself in a battle of four, Lewis Adams being one of them managed to squeeze past him on turn nine. Over the next few laps I’ve started to push and could feel Adam on me, nearly at lap seven Adam took the plunge and came on the inside of the turn six, I knew not to give up. I pushed on feeling comfortable on the back trying to get my position back. Last lap came and decided to push a little harder on the brakes into every corner pushing into turn 5 tower, Power out of T5 this resulted in the front wheel been unsettled and losing traction luckily I was okay just a bruise back and hip but the bike suffered quite a lot of damage.

I want to say thanks to everyone who checked in and help me over the weekend. Time now to repair the bike and get it set to go again for brands in four weeks time.

R3 Cadwell - What a weekend 😎

Testing went well ,good conditions for us to get the gearing and the bike set up.

Qualifying - Decided to give a down pour before our session but after the weather was hot and the track was starting to dry. Decided to go out on slicks. Was very greasy but managed to do a 1.50 which put me p16 in class and p23 on the grid.

Race 1-
Didn’t happen Saturday as there was a big accident which delayed all the races through out the day. Which meant we had all our 3 races on Sunday.
Through Saturday, I started feeling rough with a sore throat and started with a fever, which was knocking my confidence for Sunday.

Race 1 - It was wet as it was showering all morning. Full wet settings went on for the bike. Had a good start off the line soon came to a halt as a few riders went down which resulted in a red flag. Race was restarted and I just chipped away trying to be as smooth and stat on the bike with the s**t conditions, I lost it a few times but managed to bring 15th in class which resulted in my first points of the season.

Race 2-
Started on grid in p26 was still damp with dry patches and some rain showering here and there, decided to run a full intermediate set up. Managed to get off the line quick and made some places up, bike felt mint. I really enjoyed this race and coming p10 in class with some more points.

Race 3-
Started on grid in p15 Weather was sunny 😎 bike back to dry setting & running slicks.
Had a terrible start with the Bike not getting off the line. I lost 5 or 6 places in to turn one. Head down and started to get to work. Body struggling with illness & feeling like s**t. I made my way through and had a good race finishing 13th in class with some more points.

Huge weekend for me with lots of learning points and getting some points. Big thanks for all the support and my sponsors 🤘🏽🫶🏽

Just want to say a massive thanks to Gavin and his team Race HQ Suspension and Dyno for fitting me in to fit and set up my IRC blipper and quick shifter. Fair bit of work involved with with. My OCD going mad with someone else working on the bike, but wow they’ve done a mint job, of fitting everything and some nice little touches with brackets being made, really pleased!!!

Race reports for R2 donnington

Started with the test day on Thursday. took me round for some coaching and wow, what a difference. Big thanks to Karl. I struggled massively with Kraner curves as it’s such a fast corner and I had no confidence down there . But we pushed on and took 12 secs out of my lap time from the start of the day. Learning where to put the power on & how late breaking can left. We made some adjustments to the gearing of the Bike to try and help with consistency and speed.
Qualifying - I went out trying to put a fast lap in but we had a light shower of rain so taking it steady we carried on but a little bit, then had a bit of a moment at Melbourne Loop, losing the rear. We had put new tyres on the front and rear, I decided just to bed them in and come in as it was slippy. Race one had a crap start and managed to hold on to p24 & put in a faster lap time. Which then put p30 for race 2.

Race two had a better start but made a few mistakes overshooting my breaking markers, pushing for that faster lap time, running on at foggys for a little detour, I lost 3 places and ended up finishing P27 but also managed my Pb 149.01

Race three. Started 35th. Had a good star, took a couple of places up but then Kaner curves took another victim meaning race was a red flagged. Sat on the grid for 10 minutes whilst this sorted the rider out. We then had two warmup laps on cold tyres and started again, three other riders went down on red gate, so ended up finishing P26.

All in all good weekend plenty learnt for the next round and we brought it home Sunnyside up
Thanks to everyone for the support 🫶🏽
