We are a friendly and welcoming local judo club that has been open since 1951. Our aim is to get anyone who steps onto our mat to learn new skills, develop confidence, make long-lasting friendships, while developing as a judoka. Judo is a sport but it is also a lifestyle to follow with the discipline, education, and fitness to improve yourself. Everyone is welcome with us so send us a message if y

Well what an amazing day it has been for our warriors today !!

First up Coby -- he was the first competitor onto the mat this morning and had 4 strong fights, he shows his judo and really worked hard getting some scores with plenty learned.

Bethany - she had 3 strong fights, she gave it a amazing go trying her seoi-nage and worked hard in ground work and showed some great escapes from holddowns. All with a big beaming smile.

Charlie - 3 hard fights as well but he showed his judo, that hes been working on. A big improvement and strength from what we see at training and made it difficult for those he was fighting.

Jacob - 5 long and hard fights, but with each fight he got stronger and more confident. Each time he lasted longer in the middle and scored his first waza-ari. He earned his medal and has learnt a lot.

As a club we are so proud of each and everyone of them for their drive, determination, and true judo spirit. Thet deserve massive appaluse and everyone should be proud of them.

What amazing judoka we have today representing the club.

Thank you to John and Tegan as well for jumping in to coach Charlie and Jacob. And well done to all Bredakwai players as well for showing brilliant judo 🥋

Excellent session last night before the Easter break. We had 3 on our Kano class (5-7 years). All 3 of our judoka were aiming to improve for their next grade. Both Bethany and Charlie have successfully passed their 2nd Sho grading, while Coby has passed his 1st Sho. We are incredibly proud of these miniature warriors for their enjoyment, skill, and dedication to this sport; they are thriving!

Onto our Junior (8-16) we had 4 on the mat tonight, all focused on learning their grading for their next grade. Some were learning the techniques for 1st Mon (red belt), while others were working towards 2nd Mon and 5th Mon. All are giving 100% effort to get the techniques right and ensure they are ready.

Our Senior section (16+) was working on learning the start of the grading to 6th Kyu, and working on timing of techniques for foot sweeps. Making sure to really focus on getting good timing and movement from their partners.

All players are showing amazing development and determination each week to learn something new. Everyone should be incredibly proud I know we are as a club 😁 .
