Every year, amateur and home-produced combinations qualify for HOYS across a range of classes.

Yes, qualifying is challenging. It takes commitment, consistency and the right preparation - but being a professional isn't a requirement.
There are a number of amateur only routes which qualify for HOYS including:

⭐️SEIB Search for a Star Show Hunter, Riding Horse/Hack, Show Cob, Traditional Cob & Working Show Horse/Pony. These classes are only for amateurs and home-produced combinations.

🎖️The Showing Register (TSR) Amateur HOYS Show – held at Stoneleigh Park on 5th & 6th of September, this show has a host of HOYS qualifiers exclusively for amateur competitors.

🐴 Ridden Veteran Horse of the Year. New to the HOYS line-up for 2026, this final is for amateurs only.
