Congratulations Isaac Abankwah! βš½πŸ‘

A huge congratulations to Isaac Abankwah, who has signed for Marine Football Club marking another exciting milestone in his footballing journey.✍️

During his time on the Burnley FC Football & Education Programme, his performances attracted the attention of senior clubs, with Squires Gate FC approaching him to join their First Team once he had completed the season.

After impressing during pre-season, Isaac spent 18 months developing his game in senior football before earning a move to . Although first-team opportunities were limited, he embraced the challenge and gained valuable experience through dual registration spells, first with and later with , where his performances convinced the club to make his move permanent. This Isaac and Wythenshawe win the Premier Division Play-Off Final vs Bury FC and gain promotion to step 4.πŸ‘

His progress continued when he caught the eye of Farsley Celtic following an impressive display against them in the FA Cup, earning himself another step up the football pyramid. Despite facing challenges during his time there, Isaac remained focused and continued to develop before moving to , where he enjoyed an excellent season and became part of a fantastic dressing room that helped him flourish both on and off the pitch.

Those experiences have now led to a well-deserved move to Marine AFC, a testament to Isaac's perseverance, professionalism and willingness to keep pushing himself at every stage of his career.

Everyone at the Burnley FC Football & Education Programme is incredibly proud of Isaac's journey. His story highlights the opportunities that can come from embracing every challenge and never giving up on your ambitions. βš½πŸ‘

Turning our cancer journeys into art 🎨

This week, our Clarets vs Cancer group took part in a workshop combining abstract art with creative writing. A space to reflect on our experiences with cancer.
Led by Dale and Sophie from Community Roots, the session gave everyone room to explore how they felt at diagnosis, through treatment and in everything cancer has changed.

We wrote our thoughts down, then narrowed them into just a few meaningful words that became the starting point for abstract paintings. It's remarkable how much can live in so few words and how they can become something visual.

There's no right or wrong way to process a journey like this. For some of us it was writing, for others painting, for many, both. Sessions like this show that creativity can genuinely support healing and that connecting with others who understand makes a real difference.

Thank you to Dale, Sophie and Community Roots for holding space for us.πŸ’œ

Clarets VS Cancer is kindly supported by the Premier League, PFA, Spring North, Fort Vale Nuclear, Macmillan Cancer Support, East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust
