4 habits that can genuinely change you as a dancer 🩰✨

It's easy to focus on the big things — the tricks, the flexibility, the performances, the competition results.

But often it's the small habits you repeat consistently that make the biggest difference.
Which one are you working on? 👇🏼

Save this for when you need a little reminder 🤍

Turns out Mum & Dad weren’t wasting their money after all… 😂🩰
Me as a child: “Can I do another dance class?”
Me now: “Well… look what it turned into!” 😂
Forever grateful for every lesson, costume, competition, exam and opportunity that made me fall in love with dance 🤍✨
And now I get to teach the next generation to do exactly the same thing 🥹🩰

EXAM DAY COMPLETE! 🩰✨

What a fantastic day for our dancers taking their RAD examinations, from Pre-Primary all the way through to Intermediate Foundation! 🤍

We are SO proud of every single student who walked into that studio, worked hard, stayed focused and gave their very best. Exams take dedication, discipline and commitment — and watching our students progress through their ballet journey is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do. 🥹🩰

A special mention to Jessica & Sophie, who took on TWO examinations — what an achievement! 👏🏼✨

At Encore, we believe in giving our dancers opportunities to work towards recognised, regulated dance examinations, alongside performance, choreography and simply enjoying dancing. It's about building strong foundations and giving our students something tangible to work towards as they progress. 🤍

Pre-Primary ➡️ Primary ➡️ Grades ➡️ Intermediate Foundation… and beyond!

We couldn't be prouder. Whatever the results, you've already made us incredibly proud. 🥰
Well done, dancers! 🩰✨

🩰✨ WHY IS DANCE TERMINOLOGY SO IMPORTANT FROM A YOUNG AGE?✨🩰

Dance isn’t just about learning steps — it’s about learning the language of dance too! 💕

Make sure your ballet teacher is teaching you the correct way!

Introducing terminology from a young age helps dancers to:

🧠 Understand instructions— they learn to recognise movements by name and respond more quickly in class.

🩰 Build strong foundations— knowing the correct terminology early makes it easier to progress into more advanced technique.

💬 Communicate through movement— dancers can understand exactly what their teacher is asking for and begin to describe movements themselves.

🌱 Develop confidence— the more familiar the terminology becomes, the more confident dancers feel when learning new choreography.

✨ Prepare for the future— as dancers progress through different levels, terminology becomes increasingly important, particularly when working towards exams, assessments and advanced training.

And the best part? Young dancers are incredible at learning new words!👏

We introduce terminology in an age-appropriate, fun and practical way so that it becomes a natural part of their dance education — not something they have to memorise later on.

Because great dancers don’t just know how to move… they understand what they’re doing too. 🩰✨
