A great day at Wates Group Charity Golf Day! ⛳

On 9th September last week, we attended Silkstone Golf Club in Barnsley for a brilliant golf day, all while helping to raise money for charity. The two chosen charities are Barnsley Hospital Charity and BIADS - Barnsley Independent Alzheimer's and Dementia Support which had a brilliant turn out with donations.

It was great to get out on the course, catch up with familiar faces and meet plenty of new ones, all in support of a worthwhile cause.

A big thank you to Wates for organising the day and to everyone involved in making it such an enjoyable event! 👏⛳

🔥 Summer 2026 has brought an unprecedented level of wildfire activity across England and Wales.

By 16 August, fire and rescue services had already attended 1,132 wildfires, surpassing the entire 2025 total of 1,017.

July alone saw 458 wildfires, making it the busiest month on record, while prolonged hot and dry conditions continue to increase the risk across the country.

With 71.3% of England in drought as of 20 August, the recent change in weather doesn't mean the risk has disappeared. Dry ground and vegetation can remain highly susceptible to fire even after periods of rainfall.

For businesses, this is an important reminder that fire safety isn't seasonal. 🔥

Make sure your Fire Risk Assessment is up to date, appropriate control measures are in place, and everyone knows what to do in an emergency.

We talk a lot about the people who make Gaskell Safety what it is, but we thought it was time to introduce some of the four-legged members of the team too!

Say hello to Duke, Fiona, Henry & Pepper, Jessy, Nellie and Minnie 🐶

From muddy walks and afternoon naps to questionable fashion choices and plenty of personality, they definitely keep their owners busy outside of work!
