Suffolk paddle board lessons and hire

We are looking at running the Paddle U.K. one day paddlesport safety and rescue course at the lake.

This is an excellent hands on practical one day course learning all sorts of rescue skills with various type of craft.

Probably October so wet/drysuit weather, cost is likely to be around £110.00. Changing facilities, tea, coffee and biscuits provided.

We will likely close for beginners lessons at the end of this month and concentrate on those requiring specific skills coaching/drysuit practice etc.

LESSONS THIS YEAR !!!

Amongst the usual, building on the success of several previous years, we are specifically concentrating on beginners, those with specific coaching requirements or people who are anxious of spectators or suffer with BDD. (We are incredibly private and remote, a DBS checked female chaperone can be organised for a small additional cost)

Our completely private, beautiful lake near Bury St Edmunds is on a nature reserve, locally spring fed via a bubbling chalk stream, unlike the local rivers our water is super clean with no sewage.

We have otters, swans, kingfishers and NO PEOPLE! It is just you, your party and me!

It’s totally isolated but we do have a proper toilet, hot water, changing facilities, secure parking, picnic tables and again all completely private!

Your session is specific to you and your party. I will organise premium Red paddle boards and branded buoyancy aids to suit your height and body shape, your one to one coaching will be just that, no set plan, we will adapt based on your progress, you will learn so much and laugh even more!

My aim from our relaxed three hour session is to teach you, amongst many other things, how to pump up a board, fit fins, leash safety, how to get on and off, basic turns, standing, falling in and getting back on. You will be given a list of good local paddle groups, apps, suppliers and local hire companies to allow you to continue improving on what we have taught you.

Our aim is to give you enough information and skill to go on, enjoy and develop this amazing hobby alone!

We have again secured a 10% discount with The Paddle Company in Sudbury for hire, this is a perfect place to continue your learning.

This really is an amazing and super safe, clean way to start your paddleboard hobby… I love it!

Cost wise, three hour sessions are, one person £120.00, two people £220.00, three people £300, four people £350 and five/six people is £400.00

Importantly we are experienced, fully and properly insured and qualified, coach, instructor, leader, water rescue, advanced first aid, DBS checked, safeguarding of children in sport qualified with a policy in place, AALA compliant and a Paddle U.K. partner!

It’s still too cold and likely to be mid May until we get started, I do appreciate your desire to get out there, but we do need to be safe.

I’m out there paddling still, have a long weekend away mid March, nursing a six month old shoulder dislocation 🤪🏄🏄

This is an incredible hobby, again this year we will paddle through all of the seasons, watch the changing wildlife and surroundings… I love it !!!

FURTHER UPDATE, just killed the second one.

As rubbish as it sounds these two pumps have done a full year of pumping three or four boards up, one after the other! For less than £55 each, if you worked out how many boards they have done, it’s hundreds and hundreds !

Now have two Shark 3 pumps, not as well designed from a storage point of view, but they are fast!

But expensive (£150), noisy, bulky. They do have built In rechargeable batteries. Let’s see if I can get a year out of these ?

UPDATE. JUST KILLED ONE!

These are brilliant, they have done a year, one is still working fine, big puff of smoke out of the other today on its third consecutive board.

Great value at £53 each I highly recommend these!!! Topump is the brand.

I’ve probably made a mistake on the replacement and have gone for a Shark 3 rechargeable by outdoormaster… Will let you know how that goes !

I am getting lots of questions about pricing. The issue here is that these lake sessions are dedicated to you and your friends/family and are very, very special and completely totally unique to East Anglia, it is literally just you and yours on the whole nature reserve not just the lake !!! ❤️🏄

We cater for youngsters too, DBS checked, safeguarding of children in sport qualified, buoyancy aids and boards for all ages AALA (HSE) compliant, following a recent routine check they wished us well for our season❤️🏄

If it’s a beginners lesson we cover all the basics, how to pump up, valves, fins and fitting different types, leashes and leash safety, quick release and why, permits, weather and location apps, how to launch, getting on and off safely, basic turns, standing, falling in and getting back on, paddling through w**d, getting w**d off fins, helping friends back on their boards, navigating under trees and bushes, I ask the rude question about height and weight so I can bring a perfectly matched top of the range paddle board, I also bring other styles so you can get a feel for what you want to buy….My aim in our three hour session is to give you enough knowledge to go out and continue your progress.

We even have secured a discount with The Paddle Company in Sudbury and Nayland so you can go on and get the most from this amazing hobby!

Here are some examples of actual recent charges.

A single person for a one to one three hour coaching session is £120.00

A couple having a three hour dedicated session using our equipment was £220.00

A single plus sized lady on her own using our equipment three hours of coaching specifically aimed at practicing self rescue in various clothing and buoyancy aids as she was worried about getting back on, and more advanced strokes £120.00. We will tailor specific coaching to your requirements!

A family of three using our equipment, again for 3 hours of coaching £300.00.

A group of six adults, for three hours coaching £450,00

I always put your safety and fun first and if our sessions run over and we’re enjoying ourselves then so be it. No extra cost, it’s about having safe fun, learning and gaining the knowledge to go on and put into practice what we have learned !

It is imporant to realise that for these sessions you have complete total privacy, there is no one else on the nature reserve and it’s absolutely you and me on the water, using the toilets/changing facilities, picnic tables etc. surrounded only by wildlife, this is the most amazing way to learn in incredible clean, natural and totally private surroundings!

These sessions are far away from the usual group sessions that you find elsewhere on crowded, dirty public lakes and crazy busy sewage filled rivers with people watching!

I am very highly qualified and experienced , my qualifications can be seen on here or checked with my registering body, there’s paddle board instructor, multi paddle craft leader, coach courses, rescue courses, first aid courses, the list goes on and on, theses are needed to be present and up to date to be a Paddle U.K. Delivery Partner, please do check other providers qualifications before booking with them!
