Brooksbottom Cricket Club We are based just north of Bury in Summerseat and are members of the Greater Manchester Cricket Leag

We are based just north of Bury in the village of Summerseat and are members of the Greater Manchester Cricket League. We are proud to have many local players in our teams and pride ourselves on developing junior players. We encourage them to progress through the teams within the club to better themselves.

🏏 𝙁𝘼𝙍𝙀𝙒𝙀𝙇𝙇 𝙕𝙀𝘽 𝙌𝙐𝙍𝙀𝙎𝙃𝙄 🏏

Today marks the final match in another fine and hugely entertaining Brox career with Zeb Qureshi playing his final game. Zeb joined us in 2010 and has stayed loyal to the club for 16 years. He's played in the Manchester & District Cricket Association, Ribblesdale League and Greater Manchester Cricket League.

Throughout his career, Zeb has played over 200 games with 3 hundreds and 18 fifties. He has also taken over 300 wickets at an average of only 17.98 with a best of 8/26.

A natural entertainer he has hit a whopping 219 sixes (according to PlayCricket - there will be more not on there!) and hitting 219 boundaries. Particularly enormous sixes at Winton and Edgworth which disappeared out of the ground spring straight to mind 🚀

Local property owners and opposition bowlers will be pleased to see the back of Zeb but we wont. Thankyou for everything you have brought to the club Zeb and playing the game with a smile on your face always.

🏆 𝗚𝗠𝗖𝗟 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗠𝗣𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦 🏆

We are delighted to announce that yesterday's rained off fixture against Royton means that we cannot be caught at the top of the GMCL Premier League table.

The aim for this season was to stay in the Premier League and consolidate after our promotion last year. So to win the league has surpassed the expectations of everyone at the club.

We are hugely proud of what Dom and his team have achieved. The GMCL title is the greatest achievement in our club history and this season is one that will never be forgotten.

Unfortunately it wasnt meant to be for the 2nd XI in the cup final on Sunday.

We could have bowled Stretford out for less than the 157 they made it too. But their tail rallied to put on a decent total.

They were very disciplined with the ball and fielded exceptionally to hold us off in the run chase.

🏏 𝙒𝙀𝙀𝙆𝙀𝙉𝘿 𝙍𝙊𝙐𝙉𝘿𝙐𝙋 🏏

Here's the roundup of the weekend's results.

The 1st XI won again at home with a great knock from Israr Ullah of 91. Gav Nicholl bagged his best score in Brox colours with 37* before Mo Iqbal was in devastating form with 7/17.

The 2nd XI couldn't chase down the total at Friarmere after good bowling displays from Andy Lord 3/9 and Jonny Lees 2/34. The 2s were also defeated in the cup final on Sunday sadly.

The 3rd XI lost although there were good batting displays from Andy Lees 28 and Danny Bamford 26.

Well done to the performances of the week who have been selected by the captains 💪👏
