First day of spring and the legs are already dreaming of long miles and quiet places 🌱🚴♂️
A quiet pedal into the hills, heading for Arenig Fawr bothy. The roads are still empty, the air sharp, but there’s that shift you can feel, longer light, softer edges, the season turning.
The bothy itself is as minimal as it gets. Likely once a shelter for reservoir workers, now just four walls and a roof for those passing through. It sleeps two comfortably, three at a squeeze, so don’t count on space, just be glad it’s there.
No fuel nearby, so carry what you need and keep your impact light. Sheep graze around the area, so make sure the door is properly closed when you leave, small things that keep these places going.
This is bikepacking at its simplest. No noise, no rush. Just riding into the change of season.

Getting back on the bike hasn’t been easy.
After a tough year, cycling felt very different for a while. Something that used to bring pure joy suddenly carried a lot more weight. For a long time I wasn’t sure if that feeling would ever come back.
But slowly, ride by ride, it has.
Not in the same way as before, maybe a little quieter, a little more thoughtful, but the joy is returning. The rhythm of pedalling, the wind, the small moments on the trail… they’re starting to feel good again.
I’m learning that sometimes the way back isn’t about forcing things to be the same. It’s about giving yourself time, space, and patience until the love for it finds its way back.
Grateful for the bike, the trails, and the people who helped me get here. 🚴♂️🌿

Today is International Women’s Day, and I want to take a moment to say a heartfelt thank you to someone truly incredible.
Cheryl, you have been nothing short of amazing. Your kindness, strength, and unwavering support mean more than words can express. During some of the hardest moments I faced, you were there for me, steady, supportive, and always willing to help when I needed it most.
You stood by me not only through those difficult times but also throughout my recovery. Having someone like you in my corner made all the difference.
Your encouragement, patience, and belief in me helped me keep going when things felt overwhelming.
I will always be grateful for the way you showed up when it mattered most. Your generosity and friendship have meant so much to me.
So today, I just want to say thank you for being such a wonderful person and for being there through both the hard times and the journey back.
Happy International Women’s Day 🌸

There’s a quiet kind of magic here when winter starts to loosen its grip.
The trails are empty. The air is sharp. Spring hasn’t arrived, but you can feel it coming.
Beneath big mountain skies, tyres hum over gravel, and cold air fills your lungs.
Streams run high. The forest floor begins to wake.
Spring is seeping in🌱
And there’s no better place to notice than from the saddle.
