Caernarfon Beginner Golf Group
Discussion and videos on how to develop your golf game from beginner to golfer.
Grip it & Rip it !
Why gripping the club in the fingers can help your game.
1.create more feel
2. Release the club correctly and improve impact.
3. Create more lag
4. Improve distance
😳
Give this a try !
It can be really helpful if you understand what’s happening when the club meets ball.
By breaking the technique down and progressing the moment you will see great results.
Bur you must PRACTICE …..!!!
Summary of the Saturday Putting Lesson
Focus Areas:
1. Start Line and Aiming
o We emphasised the importance of the start line in putting. Practice stations were set up to help putts accurately.
o The use of the line on the golf ball was introduced as an effective tool for aiming. By aligning the ball's line with the intended target, players can ensure a more consistent and accurate start line.
o Drills included the ruler and putting plane board, which reinforced proper alignment and directional consistency.
2. Distance Control and Tempo
o The session covered how distance control is achieved by adjusting the length of the stroke based on the putt's distance.
o We stressed the importance of maintaining a smooth and consistent tempo, regardless of stroke length, to promote consistent speed control.
o Drills focused on varying distances to reinforce the connection between stroke length and the putt's outcome.
3. Green reading
The only way of understanding the way a ball rolls is to watch others putting when your playing and to practice putts with slope on the practice green. Try to find the apex and work from there.
4. Proper Stroke Mechanics
o We discussed the importance of using the shoulders to swing the club, minimising wrist movement.
o Reducing wrist action helps maintain a square clubface throughout the stroke, resulting in more accurate and consistent putts.
o Students practiced this technique with drills designed to eliminate excessive wrist movement, encouraging a pendulum-like motion.
Key Takeaways:
• Use the line on the ball as a visual aid for aiming and establishing the correct start line.
• Adjust stroke length to control distance, but maintain a steady tempo for consistency.
• Focus on shoulder-driven strokes, minimising wrist action to reduce errors in clubface alignment.
•practice putting on slopes to gain experience of how the ball reacts.
By PRACTICING these elements, you can develop a more reliable and effective putting technique.
Well done to all who attended !

CHIPPING
31/12/2024
As we begin the new year, we embrace a renewed focus, committed to not only playing golf but also building a deeper understanding of when and how to execute the right shots.
"Progress in golf comes from a positive mindset—embrace every shot as a chance to learn, grow, and improve"
HOW TO CONTROL THE LOW POINT IN CHIPPING AND IT’S IMPORTANCE
Weight Distribution and Stability
How to Control:
Position your weight slightly forward (toward your lead foot) and maintain it throughout the swing to create a stable base. Avoid swaying or shifting weight back during the backswing.
Importance:
Keeping the low point consistently in front of the ball ensures clean contact, minimising the risk of hitting behind (fat shots) or too thin (skulled shots).
Proper Hand and Shaft Position
How to Control:
Set up with the hands slightly ahead of the ball and maintain this relationship through impact.
Use a slight forward shaft.
Importance:
This positioning helps compress the ball, creating a crisp strike.
Swing Arc and Body Rotation
How to Control:
Focus on maintaining a shallow and consistent swing arc by using a small, controlled body rotation.
Avoid hinging the wrists excessively or digging the clubhead into the ground.
Importance:
A predictable low point in the swing arc allows you to interact with the turf correctly (Bounce), leading to better spin control and distance consistency.
