Last weekend we finished off the Under 9s season with our annual presentation evening at Caldicot RFC.
What an amazing way to end the 2025/26 season as the whole team, parents and siblings celebrated the great season we have had watching the boys develop their rugby this year.
We move on now this season as Under 10s and continue to grow and develop our Caldicot Minijunior-rugby section.
We thanked coach Gareth for stepping up this year as coach and he was awarded a club tie. Thank you Gareth for all your help.
We would also like to thank the other coaches Coach Del and Coach James.
All the boys did amazing and deserved awards and were all winners in our eyes. Special mentions to Ezra H on 24/26 caps this year showing amazing commitment to the team. Also top try scorers:
William R - 35
Ezra H - 29
Hadley - 22
Special awards went to:
Most promising player - Rowan
Most improved player - Hugo
Players player - Arthur
Coaches player - William R
Clubman of the year - Tomos and Jayden
We thanked our out going Under 9s captain Joe who handed on the captaincy to William K who becomes the Under 10s captain this year, supported by vice captain Hadley.
We couldn’t have a social event without a boat race! Everyone had a great evening catching up and enjoying a few drinks.
Thank you Tilly for the amazing photos.

It’s not all about rugby! 🦢🍻🍷🍾👨⚖️
The other half of The Gower Tour 2026 saw the whole Under 9s family base ourselves at Bank Farm Horton. What a fantastic place with amazing views and staff that couldn’t be anymore accommodating for us! 👍🏻
We arrived on Friday evening 8th May and met up in the bar for refreshments. After the game on Saturday morning we headed back to the site for a great BBQ and games, a little light hearted kangaroo court saw so many laughs and we all had fun! Thanks to Coach James and Evan for cooking.
Saturday night we all met in the bar for “tacky top” night and a few more refreshments were had and everyone had a great time.
After a few sore heads on Sunday we packed up and spent the day on the beach eating left over BBQ food and enjoying the relaxing sound of the waves as the boys and siblings enjoyed some sand and games.
What a great weekend with great friends and great boys! We are building a great team based on friendship, camaraderie and respect and we couldn’t ask for more from them. We are also building a great little friendship group of all the parents and siblings too.
We all had a really good weekend. Thanks to all that helped organise, without them it just wouldn’t have been possible!

We look forward now to a well earned rest and the build up to next season Under 10s 2026/27 and also the 2027 tour💪🏻👍🏻🏉🏉

What an amazing way to end the 2025/26 season as the whole team, parents and siblings departed for our first tour at The Gower 2026!!
On Saturday 9th May 26 we were lucky enough to be hosted by Mumbles Rugby Club Est. 1887 Under 9s team and what a great game we had against them. The game was played with great fun, respect and camaraderie between all players.
Afterwards we couldn’t thank all the players and coaches enough for their kind hospitality.
In recognition of great friendships amongst all clubs we presented their director of rugby with our mini shield for Caldicot RFC.
We really look forward to a return match in the future, well done you have a lovely bunch of players and coaches so thank you 👍🏻🏉🏉

Caldicot vs Garndiffaith (H) - 12th Apr 26.
The Cygnets welcomed Garndiffaith for the last home game of the season.
We continued to work hard on our new structure, and from a great warm up the boys came out flying in the first quarter scoring 4 great tries.
The second quarter the boys lost their shape and the away side ran in a good few tries.
After that it was one of those games, back and forth a great watch for all. All the players showed great respect for each other and the ref, with a few injuries it was great to see the players checking on the other teams players.
Our forwards had some great runs with Joe, Rowan and Hadley making good yards, sometimes taking 3 or 4 players to bring them down.
Some great running by Arthur, Will L and Ezra H passing well and some great tries scored.
Tries from Will L, Rowan, Hadley, Ezra H and Arthur.
Final score 17-20 to Garndiffaith.
Super proud as always and we will continue to work on our structure💪🏻
Our “Man of steel” award this week goes to William K, he was all over the field acting as scrum half, but we were most impressed with his tackling today putting in some great hits💪🏻
Our “Man of silk” award this week goes to Hadley, running all over the field supporting well and make good runs and scoring some good tries.
Thanks for all your support. Special thank you to all our sponsors:

Caldicot vs Abertillery (A) - 5th Apr 26.
The Cygnets travelled to Abertillery for the return match on a sunny Easter Sunday.
After last weeks big defeat we worked hard on some new things this week in training totally changing our structure and bringing in some set positions with forwards and backs moves.
The boys were slow to get going but soon warmed up and were playing really well with what we practised.
A few slipped tackles meant Aber were able to run in some easy tries.
Our forwards built on some great running from Joe, Rowan, Ezra W, Isaac and Maison. They provided great yards and William K as scrum half today provided quick ball to the pods before providing to our backs.
Some great running by Arthur, William R and Ezra H passing along the line and scoring individual tries.
Tries from William R, Rowan, Joe, and Arthur
A great team spirit and they were working as one today. Unfortunately a few decision went against us today shall we say….Final score 13-11 to Aber.
Super proud of all of them today and we will continue to work on our structure💪🏻
Our “Man of steel” award this week goes to Maison. It was his first game today for Caldicot RFC and after a nervous start he found his way, tackling hard and running hard into the opposition making good ground.💪🏻
Our “Man of silk” award this week goes to Arthur, running as 10 Arthur provided great ball to the backs, he put in some great tackles too, his support running and quick reactions rewarded him a great try.

Caldicot vs Blackwood (H) - 29th Mar 26.
Last week, The cygnets welcomed Blackwood for the first time as the 2 sides have never played against each other.
Blackwood came well drilled and with moves straight off the training field, they looked like they had been playing a long time. Their passing and set moves gave us something to think about.
By far the best team we have played all year they were a credit to their coaches.
The tries came one after the other, but what was promising was the way the boys kept going and never dropped their heads, they were determined to the end.
Blackwood tackled hard but fair and the boys found it difficult to break through.
Tries from Ezra H, Rowan and Hugo.
Final score 21-4 to Blackwood.
Our “Man of steel” award this week goes to Rowan, Strong running today from Row, good tackling but great yards made running straight and rewarded with a great try💪🏻
Our “Man of silk” award this week goes to Hugo, some great runs, good support and great reaction to run in a great try.
Well done everyone! 🏉👍🏻💪🏻
