A fantastic day at Caldy on Saturday for our Captains’ Finals Day.

Challenging conditions tested the finalists, but the course held up superbly and its presentation received plenty of praise, a great credit to our greenkeeping team.

Wonderful to see so many members out supporting the players and adding to the atmosphere.

The 6th Hole — ‘The Donga’.

Named after the distinctive dry gully crossing the approach to the green, the Donga later provided a route for vehicles accessing the beach during the installation of Caldy’s coastal rock armour.

Evening light also beautifully highlighting the historic ridge and furrow across the fairway.

Like much of the UK, the prolonged dry spell has transformed the course, with firm and fast conditions across the fairways.

Looking beyond the 2nd green and the Wirral Way, across the Dee Estuary to the Welsh coastline, a fantastic perspective of our unique setting.

It’s fantastic to see our Par 3 course being used exactly as it was intended, helping golfers of all ages and abilities develop their game, learn together and enjoy the sport.
