do you run a whist card game at your club?
Not a friendly place as their website describes.
Good luck to Camberley IBC’s own Arnie Lewis and Christopher Cranham in the O60’s Liberty Trophy team tomorrow in the national final vs Norfolk! Bring back the title lads!
Evening!

Has a team been selected for L&SC Challenge Cup on Saturday morning yet? Who's playing where? Thanks in advance!
Great win away for the Top Club team vs. Loddon Vale IBC, winning three of the five disciplines (Men's 2-Wood, Mixed Pairs and Mixed Fours) with close losses in Mixed Triples and Ladie's 2-Wood).

Pressure for shots was taken off the team with Dave McCallum's excellent 25-2 win in his 18 end 2-Wood game, meaning the rest of us could concentrate on wins.

Good team effort with partisan support crowd at Loddon Vale....looking forward to the next round on 6th November.

Happy New Year from all at Camberley and District Indoor Bowling Club

16/03/2020

Following a joint meeting of the Management and Bowling Committees held this morning, the decision was made to close the club with immediate effect, in order to protect our members from the Coronavirus Epidemic, as far as it is our power to do so.

The club will remain open today for any members who wish to play any matches already organised for today, but no member is under any obligation to do so. From tomorrow the club is closed for all bowling activities, but will remain accessible for members to call in and collect any belongings etc. from their lockers until Saturday 21st March. From Sunday 22nd March, access to the club for individual members will not be possible, unless by special arrangement with a keyholder (see list below) - for an emergency purpose only!

All Leagues Matches Fun Drives and Competitions for the rest of the Winter Season are now suspended. Any fines which would normally be levied for unplayed matches (even those from previously in the season) are cancelled. It may be possible to run the suspended competitions early next season – watch out for further information about this from the Bowling Committee.

The Bowling Committee AGM, due to be held on Sunday April 5th is also suspended – it is hoped to hold this early next Winter Season.

We have also decided that the Summer League season will not be run this year – by all accounts it seems likely that the current epidemic will last for several months, and it was deemed necessary to provide clarity on this issue now, rather than later.

The situation regarding future activities will be reviewed in May/June, when the state of affairs may be clearer.

Please pass on this information to those of your teams who may not be on email – we are, however, endeavouring to contact those people by phone.

Best Wishes
We hope that you all stay safe and healthy

After Arnie Lewis contacting most of our team to let them know that CIBC v Egham Surrey match was still on for tomorrow, he received a late call from Egham IBC saying that they could not raise a team.

So, unfortunately the Surrey League Match tomorrow will NOT take place.

Best regards for a good weekend

cdibc.co.uk 02/03/2018

The club will re-open Saturday 3rd March 2018, after the recent temporary closure due to the wintry weather.

Club will be open for Junior Bowling from 8am, followed by some internal competition matches at 10am. There is a men’s Surrey League Match against Egham IBC in the afternoon at 2:15pm.
On Sunday morning at 10:00am the club is hosting, as a neutral green, one of the National Egham Trophy Semi-Final matches, with Bournemouth playing Swale IBC.

Although there is still some ‘snow in the air’ this afternoon, the forecast for later tonight and tomorrow shows light cloud, ‘breezy’ wind, and increasing temperatures
The car park may appear to be still quite ‘white’ so members, guests and visitors are urged to take especial care when getting out of their cars and making their way into and out of the club

Some of you may have noticed that the club web site www.camberleyindoorbowls.co.uk has not been available for the last couple of days – this was due to it being transferred from one web hosting provider to another. It was unfortunate that the transfer process was initiated before the wintry weather came in, and lasted until today. However, the site is back up and running again, so watch out for further updates, which will be posted there as well as further emails should things change.

Welcome to a new season of indoor bowling at Camberley and District

A new snippets of information as we start:

Bowling Committee Secretary

At time of writing, the bowling committee is still short of a secretary – if any of you feel you could take on this position the present members of the committee would be very appreciative – it is not an onerous task, involving the taking of minutes at committee meetings (usually monthly) and presenting them for agreement at the next. The job could involve more if the holder is willing, but for the moment that is what is sorely needed.

Please approach any member of the committee.

New Staff

We welcome Pauline Collins as club Book Keeper, succeeding Ann Guerin, who retired at the end of April. Grateful thanks are due to Ann who did a sterling job for very many years, and has been helping Pauline ease into the role during the summer months. We also welcome Paul Shillingford as Bar Manager, who has succeeded Rob Dicker. Rob has moved away from the area, and we thank him for his work over the past year. Welcome also
to David Hayes who has taken on the Club Maintenance Role.

Roll-ups

As already advised on your membership renewal forms, the club is open for pre-season roll-ups from Monday 21st to Sunday 27th September, before the Club opens officially for Leagues on Monday 28th September. Times are 10am to 9pm, except Saturday when finish time is 6pm. Please don’t forget to register and pay for your roll-up at reception, where there will be a special roll-up registration list to cover the pre-season week.

Roll-ups this year are £1.20 per hour, except for Wednesday and Thursday evenings when the £1.20 charge will cover the period 8:30pm (after the early evening league finishes) until 10:30pm.

This season, the club will also be open for early morning roll-ups at 8:30am until morning leagues commence at 10am (weekdays only). This session will be FREE of charge, but members are still requested to complete the Roll-Up form at reception, so that future analysis of rink usage can be made

Friendly Matches

A message from your President, Clive Sayer: Please give your full support for your Club Captains in all the Club Friendly Matches this year. A great deal of effort by the Club Fixture Secretary, Evelyn Morley, goes into arranging these matches, and without your support the club may find itself having to cancel matches with our friends from other indoor and outdoor clubs, which is not something we would like to do. Please help as much as you can.

Car Parking

The Council have now designated the car park in front of the club as ’18 hour parking’ only. This should relieve the problem of cars being parked in it on a long-term basis, and thus make more spaces available for short-term parking. Please be aware of this restriction, should you need to park overnight for any reason.

Please also note that members should leave the emergency access to the left of the disabled car park spaces by the club entrance free of parked cars – this area is required for ambulances etc. to gain access to the club via the ramp, and it is extremely important that it is not blocked off.

Club Lighting

The bowls club lighting system was some twenty five years old and had become increasingly unreliable and more costly to maintain. Lighting technology has improved significantly and modern LED (light emitting diode) luminaires offer a better quality of light with improved reliability and much reduced running costs.

Recent light measurements have shown that at bowls mat level we were approximately 50% lower than that recommended by the Sport England Design Guidance notes for indoor bowls (500 lux)

The Management committee decided to upgrade the club lighting to improve the members’ quality and enjoyment of the game and improve the overall ambience of the club. The new lighting meets the required EIBA lighting levels standards, reduces running costs by over 50% and makes significant savings in CO2 emissions.

We are taking the opportunity of the phased lighting installations to upgrade the Emergency lighting and other Safety measures to comply with current regulations. We hope that this investment will provide club members with a safe and more enjoyable environment for the game of bowls.

Bye-Law Changes

Please Note: Changes have been made to the Club bye-laws B7 (Two Hour League Matches), C8 (Club Competition Entries) and C3 (Playing Conventions) and are highlighted by being shown in boxed text.

The changes to B7, regarding re-spotting of a jack after if has left the side of the rink, do NOT apply to bye-law B8 (Fixed Number of Ends League Matches).

The re-spotting of jacks after one has left the left or right sides of a rink during the course of an end will also apply to friendly matches.

Web-Site

The Club Website at http:// camberleyindoorbowls.co.uk has been updated for this season, please visit it for various items of information about the club. A number of forms and information sheets may now be viewed and/or downloaded from the site, including Club Membership Forms, League Playing Schedules, League Fixtures, League and Competition Results for previous season, Year Book and Club Fixture List.

We also hope to add League Tables as we progress through the season, as well as news about the club and its members.

Year Book 2015-16

The Year Book is currently with the printers – we hope that some copies will be available for members to take during coming week, but in the meantime, head to the club web-site, where a copy may be seen online.

Rink Bookings

We were hoping to have a computerised rink booking system available for the start of the season, but, due to circumstances beyond our control, have not been able to implement this – work is still ongoing though, and we hope to install such a system during the year.

Until this time, Rink Bookings should still be made using the existing paper-based system.

Important: Please remember to cancel, as soon as possible, any provisional rink bookings which turn out not to be required, in order to make the booking available for others.

TV Information Screen

We have installed a large information screen above the entrance to the bar – this will be populated soon with club information and details of forthcoming events. If you have items you would like displayed, let us know and we will see if they can be used.

Photographs

There were a number of members who took photographs at the Club Competition Finals in April – if they are willing to share these, would they please contact Richard Barnett, so we can add them to the club photo archives for use in future displays

Finally …
The Club Committees and other officers wish you all a happy and successful season in 2015-16.
