This is my breakdown of how to keep your body healthy, active and pain free for good! It takes time to build a consistent pattern and implement all of the ingredients but, you’ll be glad you did when you’re 65 and still moving easily 🕺🏻

Winners are Grinners 😊

This week I got the chance to see on the pitch playing 80 minutes of competitive rugby! After 2 ACL reconstructions and around 500 hours of rehab over the last 3 years, she’s back playing competitive rugby this season pain and injury free 🤚🏻 🪵

It’s moments like this that make the early mornings and hard hours of training worth while. The continuation of doing her recovery, ticking off the boring drills and looking after her body to help prevent further injuries and get back to doing what she loves. Rolling around in the mud 😂!

Darker days and the winter months are certainly starting to kick in. How many times have you snoozed that alarm recently or skipped the gym because it’s all just to much.

How about those old niggles and pains creeping back in. Lower back aches, knees are stiff, hips are sore and the arthritis is kicking your butt again.

Don’t let the short darker days and cold beat you! Continue to build and work on yourself. Yes winters harder to do it but it’s still your body and it’s still your mindset that controls the outcomes.

The Effects of Alcohol 🍻

Uh Oh….! 🥴

Now before you panic this is not to scare you away from celebrating and having a few drinks here and there.

However if you’re a regular consumer of alcohol and have struggled with one of the following areas, this may give you some insight into why. 🍷

Regular consumer could be anything from a glass of wine a daily to the weekend binge drinker 🍺

Everything in moderation and alcohol is no different. That being said with more and more alcohol free options available on the market, is there room for self improvement and reducing your intake of alcohol…?

The effects of Sleep 🛌

Is that Monday Sleepiness and morning mood hitting you hard after a couple of late nights? ❌

Do you sleep binge at weekends after what feels like an exhausting week? ❌

How often do you crave high energy and sugary foods & drinks? ❌

All of these are effects of poor sleep quality. If you’ve no routine then how can you possibly recover, recharge and feel energised? 🔋

Yes it may sound boring but having a routine of the time you go to bed and wake up 95% of your life, makes a monumental difference. 🚀

It’s a challenge for the first few days but once you build the HABIT and stay CONSISTENT, it really does stick and it really does BOOST your quality of living 💫

Sunday Reflections 💫

In light of international Mens day yesterday, I thought it would be a good time to open up and share some of my own experiences and troubles. ✨

If I had to write down the biggest factors in my life that affect my mental health, I think there would be 2 main contributors.

Firstly my relationships with those closest to me. I’m not great at being open or sharing my issues but, I am great at shutting away and ignoring everyone until it causes a bigger problem.

Im working on being more open as a person when issues arise and less of a recluse!

My work and my business. Being self employed is a choice and one I choose. Im not someone who likes to be employed or told what to do. ✨

If I’m not coaching and doing the one thing I love which is to help others, then I feel lost, suffer depression and feel pretty much empty. 💫

This year I moved gyms 3 times and not through choice. At one stage I had my dream, a small location all to myself. ✨

However somethings are not meant to be and for reasons out of my control that journey ended rather sharply. 💫

I came so close to quitting as a coach m after almost 10 years, I was ready to quit and just find an employed job.

However out of nowhere things picked up and have been on the incline recently. 🙏🏼

This is down to those closest sticking by me through thick & thin, helping me through the tough days and sleepless nights and believing in me.

I can’t thank you enough for helping me, get back on track to feeling my best! 🙏🏼

It’s ok to not be okay and it’s so important that as Men we know that. It’s ok to reach out and ask for Help! 💫

Sunday Reflection ✨

I really should buy shares in Gail’s at this stage in life, as I seem to be spending the majority of my free time and studying in here. 🧁

I’ve also realised my activity levels have substantially dropped in the last 2/3 weeks due to a multitude of changes in my day to day life.

Being super busy with 1-1 coaching, studying, building my business and now playing little to no tournament golf means I’m burning less energy. ⬇️

My foods stayed the same yet Im now a few kilos heavier, something I know will be hitting a lot of people hard right now. The key to this is to not panic 😱

- It took me 10 years to be ok with this!

If you spend all year in a deficit or focusing on weight loss, you’ll never make improvements when you really want them. ✨

Yes we can still keep our activity levels up, go to the gym to work on our physical health, be outdoors and hike at weekends but…….

Right now is the time to get festive, spend time with family and embrace the deliciousness of winter. ☃️

If You want a glass of mulled wine, a mince pie with your coffee or a German hotdog at the market, then you absolutely should do that! 💫

Enjoy the winter, be festive, drink and eat with friends. Worry about those extra few kilos I’m January because now is the time to just have FUN! 🎅🏻

- It took me 10 years to be this way!

Im letting you get ahead of the game and give yourself the mindset you need to live happier 💫

Sunday reflections 💫

Life’s been crazy recently, well all year really and so much so I’ve gotten away from my own personal reflection.

The past week has been flat out with birthday celebrations, time out with friends & family and generally just throwing my routine out of whack a bit.

On top of this coaching has gone bananas 🍌 more and more people recognising the importance of health is wealth and investing back in to themselves.

This has meant I’ve been super busy coaching both 1-1, online and with group sessions, for which I’m eternally grateful to everyone, who gives me that chance to HELP them. 💫

Now looking forward to what’s ahead, I’m definitely not slowing down. I’ve recently started my Level 4 back pain specialist qualification and my GP Referral.

Both of which offer great value to myself, my current clients and all future clients.

If you’ve read this far stay with me….

This does mean my own training and routine has taken a hit and if you’ve ever felt something similar, then I’m here to tell you that’s OK!

It’s ok to lose control of your normal, it’s okay to focus on other areas of your life. As long as you recognise that change and manage to find your way back once you’ve achieved or ticked that progress box.

Unload your mind into a journal or maybe go grab a coffee with a friend, both are great choices to help reduce those stress levels.

Ruffling Feathers ⚡️

I’m not one to beep my own horn but……. Beep beep

So you have an injury, pain or exercise issue and you’ve booked in to see your GP but, they’ve told you to wait 3 weeks to be seen.

You finally get your appointment and they tell you to rest for 2 weeks, which majority of the time you probably don’t need to. Then they say exercise will help, so here’s 4 really basic exercises we give everyone and send you on your way.

Well luckily for you, I don’t have a 3 week waiting list. In fact you can probably see me inside 24hrs.

I also have way more than 4 exercises in my locker to help fix your pains and problems 🚀

Time to put yourself first 💫

Tired of feeling below your best and struggling to operate at your true potential?

I’m not saying you need to go full time bodybuilder but any means but, we can take something from that quote.

Eating to refuel and build the body so you can perform not just at the gym but, with your job as well. 🍱

Sleep is essential and we all know it, so start building that sleep pattern back up and improving your rest & recovery 🛌

Lifting weights has a tonne of benefits not just for muscle growth but, for mental health, mindset and injury prevention!

Live Better and your body will Love you for it both physically and mentally 🚀

Fix & Improve your Mindset 🧠

How do you use your toolset? Are you someone who believes they must go to the gym, do a tonne of cardio and eat the bare minimum to lose body fat?

Or…..

Do you see cardio as the only tool to losing weight, ignore the weights area and barely walk during the working week?

It’s time to change that approach, to see the 4 pillars of fitness from a new angle, and to stop putting yourself through this cycle!

You need to find that BALANCE and medium ground.

Why do we need good nutrition to burn body fat? Well if your consuming a poor quality of calories, your energy quality is going to be low and this what leads to poor food choices. You also need to be in control of how much energy you’re putting in your body ‘CALORIES’ 🥦

Cardio, the only way you should look at this is from a health & performance perspective! It’s a great tool for building your engine but, it’s also great for improving your health allowing you to live longer, happier and healthier 🚀

Weights and strength training, something we should all try and do in some capacity! You don’t have to do it everyday, you just need to do it consistently over a period of time. It helps preserve your muscle and tone your body. The more body fat you lose combined with this, the better you’re going to look & feel 🏋️‍♂️

Walking is the most underrated tool in everyone’s box, it ticks so many boxes, and has nothing but great benefits for your body! 🚶‍♂️
