MATCH REPORT: Friendly against Cambridge University Islamic Society FT 3-3 (pen. 8-7 to Selwyn)

Isoc gained a lead early on from none other than Churchill's own sin-bin man. Selwyn clawed back an equaliser within the first half after a beautiful counter-attacking move finished off by our very own Ambrose and kept Isoc quiet until the halftime whistle blew.

After half time Isoc stunned Selwyn with a quick brace leaving us trailing 3-1. The boys however did not lose heart and pinned Isoc in their own half imposing our style of football on the game. The Selwyn press hunted down every man in possession forcing countless mistakes from the opposition leaving our goalkeeper Leo to enjoy the winter sunset (see 2nd photo)

Our wingers relentlessly bombed down the touchline, striking fear into Isoc's backline. Wes, our guest winger who set up the first goal, scored a brace to level the score to 3-3. Despite Selwyn ruthlessly searching to find the killer blow and win the game, time ran out and the game went to penalties.

With a perfect set for the first 6 penalties, it looked to be a very long evening. Despite Selwyn missing the 7th spot kick, Leo woke up from his hibernation to rescue the team. The prolonged affair was finally ended by none other than Leo himself who pulled off another Ochoa-esque save to hand the W to Selwyn.

A hard-earned victory that will set us up for a massive revival in Lent - keep your eyes peeled👀👀

Selwyn vs Caius 13/11/22
MATCH REPORT: Despite going 1-0 down early on, Selwyn clawed back an equaliser early in the game courtesy of the imposing aerial threat of none other than John Sesay. Desipte the unfortunate sending off of our centre half after 20 mins, Selwyn were able to keep pressing in the game with good spells of possesion. Entering halftime 3-1 down, still pleased with our performance. It was in the second half however where Cauis' number advantage really began to show with Selwyn having to cover extra ground to close down the spare man. With energy running low, we shipped 6 goals in quick succession, finishing the game 9-1. Despite the scoreline, the heart and the passion of the team was never in question throughout the game, with every player running until the very last whistle, even if physically incapable and putting their body on the line to protect the net. With the next fixture fast approaching, it is now time to regroup and tackle the next game with the same fire that we did last week, albeit now with an extra man. UTS x
